Whoever donates 5k absolutely has to get the part of Christian, it's the only way

Its a big ole scam from a hambeast, thats all it is. Or she just attention whoring so she can claim she brought chris mainstream.

I don't know, I think that Chris can't be expressed effectively in any other medium other than a wiki. Especially now. Nowadays, you're dealing with an ultra paranoid autist and you won't get any fresh content out of him.

Really, the ideal way to portray Chris is in the cwcki.

Someone must get this idea at least once a month at this rate and folks here say the same thing every time

srsly does it not occur to you people to search for your thread idea before you post it? have you never posted on forums before?

I don't see how this is regurgitated content. I've read every thread title from the beginning this week, and lots of threads. If someone mentioned making a movie or kickstarter, I didn't see where it was the main point of any thread.

i keep forgetting the forum's only a week old!

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=818&hilit=documentary

seriously bro thirty seconds

Uh no, that means that this week, I read every thread title on this forum, an easy task since this forum is only about six months old. Nothing jumped out at me about making a documentary. Someone from England wanted to do it in April and received mixed responses about the idea. I'm not expressing a desire to make a movie, and I wasn't here to debate if it is a good or bad idea. Merely informing the reader that this person in Colorado is making an attempt. And if you're interested, you can watch her progress.

Windmills documentaries do not work that way!

Never going to happen.

She should try a different panhandling avenue.

If it's a documentary about Chris it's not going follow any sort of logic or precedent.

Besides the girl trying to get this thing together is an art major in Colorado, I can see this being some kind of cheesy overdramatized sort of affair.

in other words

it'shappening

I see that the campaign has been up for 4 days. So she's got under two months to bring in 20K. Hasn't raised a cent yet. The crew members should be working for free, since she is a film student and should be working with other students just for the film credit. So that leaves airfare, which should be one roundtrip for each crewmember from CO to VA, plus the equipment costs. Sounds like they're interested in giving Jerry Springer-like bribes to those that will cooperate.
It's flexible funding, so they will get their money even if they don't meet the 20k goal. 9% is taken if the goal is not reached, 4% if it is. This person could get a little money from this, use some of their own money, and if they wanted to, possibly abuse their student loans to pay for some of it.

She should make a sizzle reel of existing content to coincide with a proper pitch to potential funders instead of jumping head on into such a project.

I read their terms of use, and they have a section against bullying. It's possible any or all of this could be interpreted as bullying, since several youtube videos have been removed for that reason. I wonder what happens to the money if they pull your campaign for violating their terms? Making a reel could wind up being seen by the wrong person and they might complain about it.
But if she gets some funding and goes ahead with it, makes the right bribes to CWC, if it coincides with him coming off probation and he feels like showing his ass, he might welcome her pitch if she makes the right promises. Like a chance to tell his side of the story and expose those dang dirty trolls nationally.

I'm not sure that a documentary like this would go over very well with the general public. Some over-reactive douche-holes will interpret the whole thing as bullying an autistic man, or something along those lines, then there would be shit-tons of controversy.

Probably the dozenth time that someone has posted a documentary thing here.

Anyways I'll donate a couple thousand if you'd like.

Hurry! Someone make a webpage where people can try and raise money for Chris related games and films.

We shall call it ...... "CWCstarter".

A Chris-related video game? Will he himself be the main protagonist?

Why would you ask for this much money and not even have the conditions for getting an interview with Chris established? Why would you even fly to VA when you have no idea if you can get a hold of anyone who has dealt with Chris long enough to give an informative interview? Are they going to just interview random locals and hope they've heard of Chris?

I could see a doc working if it was about how the perfect storm that is Chris could have come about and mainly how he could have family that really didn't try to save him from himself (in regards to the internet). You'd have to blow most of your budget on getting an interview with Chris and Barb. Barb would be the key to the whole thing. Chris would be fucking useless in an interview but you'd need the video and the soundbytes. Barb, however, would be a fucking goldmine if you could get her to first talk about her life, her upbringing, why her and Bob married, then her version of raising an autistic child, the Greene County incident, and her view on Chris's interaction with the internet. Fuck, this is a mom who has let her adult son drag a blow-up doll around the house and into the kitchen.

Anither problem is you'd need one amazing interviewer to guide Barb. She would probably get drunk off of nostalgia and ego if you let her talk about herself but once it got to Chris? Oh shit. Phrasing something wrong could probably set her off and end the whole thing. You just lost your film and are now stuck with two hours of footage where Chris won't stop stammering because he can't remember 80% of the events you're asking him about.

Summary: It will never happen. If someone is good enough to make the film work then they're too good to bother with Chris's story.

Doomed to fail from the start, documentaries are supposed to be educational and require the consent of the person being documented, neither of which would be possible.

She didn't even bother to share her angle. Is it to deliver a good laugh, an attempt to be neutral and detail that perfect storm, or does she want to defend him as a victim? If I was going to bribe any of them for an interview, I'd think I'd want my cash/playstation4/sex toys in hand to give to Chris the same day I offered it. Not contact him now, and show up three months later only to find he had time to think about it and no longer wants to participate.

If someone truly wanted to create a documentary, they shouldn't ask for money or approval, they should just do it, and shut up. The money would be better given to the CWCki, a proven and legitimate source of information.

I'd really like to think she'd stay in contact to ensure the deal still stands before she blows her budget going to VA. If she goes in blind without contacting him then she's already killed a big part of the budget just to knock on a door.
