King of the hill appreciation thread - Yup.

Could be ok I guess, Bobby has demonstrated excellent cooking skills in multiple episodes so that fits, I wonder if it's set in Dallas or if Bobby comes back to Arlen because insert reasons.
What if he comes back because Buck finally died and left Bobby Sugarfoot's so the kid has to return to town and see if he can get the place back up and running?

Tie in something like his kid is getting a certain age and he's uncomfortable with what he/she is exposed to in Dallas and decides the smaller town in Arlen is where he wants to raise him/her.

There's some hooks you could do.

Yea I'm cautiously optimistic, Judge is a great writer and there's potential here.

Yep. I can’t imagine Hank’s thrilled with Dallas or even knows what the hell a fusion restaurant is, but it could be good for some laughs.

If I had a comedy writing course this would be one of the examples I would use as perfect character writing. Look at how well made this is:
>Hank isn't put into this situation unnaturally, he sits next to Gilbert Dautrive because he was horrified to see Bobby wearing a fancy blue suit during dinner and didn't want Gilbert's gayness (or Dandy style) rubbing off on his son
>Hank tries to maintain civility by talking sports, asking about Football in this case the New Orleans Saints which he'd assume Gilbert would be a fan of
>Gilbert uses the opportunity to make his Tennessee Williams-style metaphor and Hank just looks completely dejected

Just perfect set up and delivery. I really don't think you can ask for anything more.
This is what I love about Hank as a character. He’s ultimately not okay with the gay shit, but he handles it in a confused befuddled way that I wish was more acceptable these days. Like, it’s okay to be uncomfortable and grossed out by this. That should be the norm.

We’re all forgetting the most important question here, one that will define everything about the show itself:

Is Bobby cooking with propane?
Hope so. His dad wanted him to follow his footsteps to be a propane salesman, but after so many failed attempts, Bobby still loved meat the same way his dad does, so he cooked the steak with a propane grill. I hope Bobby uses his love of propane, just not as obsessive as his dad

So its only a decade or so after the finale then. That'll put most of them in their mid 50s, though I wouldn't be surprised if strickland had another heart attack or ended up in jail by now. I wonder if hank will be full manager by now

I won't be surprised if they do a forced rewrite to account for dale and say he either died or something went down with nancy and he got divorced and moved to some shack in the woods to live like a crazy hermit operating another underground conspiracy themed radio station. I can see them doing something woke with bobby given how he was originally and being a chef. I won't be surprised if they made him pansexual or some shit and made him a queer eye type celebrity chef. This is hulu we're talking about so you know there are going to be some conditions and somebody is going to get that treatment. If not him nancy becoming a lesbian and kicking dale out, citing her affair with john redcorn being some kind of in the closet overcompensation wouldn't be exactly unexpected

I'm curious how they'll handle the luanne and lucky situation though. Moved off somewhere maybe or some kind of family tragedy. It would make sense with lucky given it was even a plot point that his family tends not to live that long so they do the half birthday stuff. Bill will probably just as pathetic and still living in his house, its pretty much key to his character. Boomhauer will probably be either married or will have passed his prime and turned into proto bill and having a leisure suit larry thing going on

and you just know hank is going to have some kind of shrine to ladybird in his back yard by now

I'm hoping they let Bill grow up a little. Bill was, frankly, an incredibly frustrating character. I know there were mandates in place that prevented permanent character development so the episodes could always be aired out of order, but gotdangit if I didn't want Bill to stop self-destructing and get his shit together. If anybody was going to die in the 8 years leading up to the revival, it was going to be Bill. So the fact that he's still alive (presumably) means that he better have damn well gotten his life at least somewhat in order. I'm not saying the guy needs to be married with kids or something like that, but can he at least have a consistent girlfriend or something? Bring back Kahn's mom if you have to, for God's sake. Just don't have any more "he gets better then ruins everything" episodes.

I hope so unless Buck Strickland trick him again.

Was it ever explicitly stated how old Buck was? I always assumed mid to late 60s but maybe he was younger and just looked like shit due to alcoholism and other shitty lifestyle choices.

Edit: he was 68 in the original run apparently making it very unlikely he's alive in the reboot.

My hope is that some snooty food critic shows up to Bobby's restaurant and tries to guess these mysterious techniques he's using to achieve such magnificent flavours, only for the reveal to be that it's all just a propane grill and some unique grilling techniques he developed after some basic guidance at the start from Hank

If it's any indication, once Bill dies, I hope Lenore appears once again. She was mentioned a lot, but only appeared in one season five episode where Bill dates a Texas governor after he, as well as Dale, Boomhauer and Hank mooned her in an elevator

Hank won't want to come visit Bobby in Dallas because that place is full of crackheads and debutants and half of them play for the Cowboys!
Hank should be grateful that at least he isn't living in austin, close to gilbert

Perhaps they should scrap the whole revival idea and bring it back as a period piece movie. They could call it king of the hilliad and have a modern day trojan war between arlen and john redcorns 12 acre indian reservation. They could do a minor rewrite and have it set up so john redcorn is the paris character, stealing nancy away from dale, fleeing back to the reserve causing dale to go full menelaus with hank as agammemnon and invade the indian reserve. Dale gets killed in personal combat trying to win her back and the climax of the show is hank pulling a trojan horse by hiding the guys the cargo section of an empty propane truck they left as a peace offering to the natives, knowing they won't pass up free shit. Bobby achilles with GH as patroclus, joseph as hector, boomhauer as odysseus, bill as ajax and we find out jiimmy swindled the indians somehow and ended up as priam and kahn constantly trying to sell both sides out to his own benefit but ultimately causing hank to win by responding you stupid redneck! it explode and kill us all! when the suggestion is made to burn hanks propane truck offering

and of course cotton and buck are the gods betting against each other about which side is going to win

Please god no.

It would be nice if Boomhauer finally got together with that girl who almost married his brother. She seemed to be the only one he ever really cared about.

I’m not even going to quote your last post, but why are you sounding like Shiversblood without the anuses?
