Hank looks so miserable in current year I kind of feel it would have been more merciful to have Hank die in 2008.
Insert the copypasta about how the KOTH reboot would be misery porn version of Waiting For God where we find out everyone's life has turned to pure shit as they spend the series framed around a party where everyone is waiting for Bobby to return to town to visit his parents after leaving Arlen, for the first time in years, only for the final episode revealing some black guy shot and killed Bobby just because he could and Hank and Peggy crying as the police inform them of their only child's death.

IMO Peggy would likely be written as becoming a fan of Trump or a Trump stand-in (that's how they'd probably do an election episode, with an analogous character running for a position on the school board or something) until Hank helps her see the "error of her ways" by the end of the episode. I could also see Dale, Bill or even Kahn in that role.
This is essentially the Paddlin’ Peggy episode.

I don't really see any of the Arlen cast voting for those two,
>two? You actually believe they're two seperate people?
dale-gribble.webp

I swear I remember Peggy yelling "DAMN IT BOBBY WHERES MOMMYS XANAX" before, but I'm probably misremembering, maybe she said a different substance.
The line was "damn it bobby where's mommy's bourbon" in response to the news that Luanne was knocked up by Lucky.
Peggy's fadeout is probably the panic attack plot that leaked a while back.
Does anybody know where I could find a link to this?

This may be an unpopular opinion but I feel like there are so many topical celebrities references in KOTH. I don’t think people watching the show today would know who the referenced celebrities are. People always get after the Simpsons and Family Guy for doing that, but KOTH does that too much as well.

The only celebrity cameo I think people would be confused on is Chuck Mangione, zoomers know who George Foreman and Willie Nelson are.

But do people these days know much about Mira Sorvino? And Ann Richards wasn’t well known to people outside of Texas.

Here's the thing though, you don't need to know who Ann Richards was. The Only thing you need to know is that she's the former governor of Texas because that's the only part of her character that's actually relevant to the episode's plot.

I didn't know who Chuck Mangione was when I first saw the series being a young girl from Finland and all. I just assumed he was a made up celebrity like Krusty the Clown in Simpsons. I still got most of the jokes just fine and his inclusion didn't get in the way.

The first episode of American Dad! was terrible but they quickly hit their stride and it's still going strong twenty years later.

Was the audience that different?
The first three seasons of American Dad are bad. That show benefited tremendously whenever Seth McFarlane was putting his attention elsewhere, and the way the show mutated around the time of its move to TBS turned it into something far, far better than it was in the beginning.

I'm surprised at how many celebrities they got to voice themselves while they were depicted in the show unfavorably, like Randy Travis.
A lot of genuinely nice people get a laugh out of playing themselves as assholes, like the Kenny Loggins appearance in Archer.

I disagree tremendously about american dad's early seasons being bad. People hate that "stan's conservatism" was more prominent of focus, but it's no worse than most traits the family and the neighbors have(being selfish and mischievous). I liked that roger's an asshole and it wasn't deliberately written to have the family suffer as a result of him being a sociopath(and when it was, roger never got any bullshit getting him off scot free). I wish we got more prominence of characters like Linda Memari, Akiko, the CIA guys outside of few episodes like we did in the first seasons and Fox run in general. Having no reoccuring characters except maybe 5(steve's friends, Lewis and bullock) just became tiring. Langley falls is just a character-less backdrop, and the "creative plots" just aren't interesting anymore.

Set to release August 4th.

“After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.”

>Connies global warming presentation
God I'm tired of hearing about it
>Kahn and Minh fighting
Uh oh... but we already knew that
>Baby GH
>Nancy and Redcorn
Again?
>Hills move out
Crazy. Guess they rented it out?
>Black dude
>Bill gets covid
>Dale not masking
Wonder if there'll be a late covid ep. Sick of hearing about that too though.
>Boomhauer with a woman and kid
Single mom? I saw someone say Kathleen but it doesn't look like her, kid doesn't look like Boomhauer either.
>Dale for mayor
>Electrical pole removed
Is that something thats happening?
>Rideshare reference
Hank going to Saudi Arabia is weird... a while ago there was a list of VAs and characters and one character was named Mohammed. I disregarded it because I couldn't find a trustworthy source... guess it was real. Wonder if Buck died. No Gracie in the opening. I expected the animation to be way different, Peggy looks kinda rough though.
