King of the hill appreciation thread - Yup.

it'll looks like shit and we're still a bit off with that tech, and even then it still looks like shit because animation is 24 frames a second and trying to make it 60 frames is gonna result in some weird frame fuckery because it was never intended to be at that framerate. otherwise they'd animate at 30 fps because you can interpolate at that framerate.
I always hated the puppet rig model in modern animation especially that little "jiggle" after when a character moves rapidly. It's just so unnatural.

when you gotta get a show out in a year, or sometimes less than that, the puppet animation will come out as cheaper and more convenient for animators
Stop making excuses for artists cutting corners because of time constraints, if it looks bad it looks bad. They took the wrong shortcuts and wound up with acres of mud on their nice shoes instead of a mild scuffing.

trust me, if they had the time and money to make it look good, they would. no one working in that industry wants to intentionally make something bad because that person would get fired and never get a job working in animation (officially) again if they did. those indie animations only come out as good as they do when they take their sweet time being made, agonizing as the wait for them to come out is.

If only they had the time and money to do the same thing they were doing in the 90s with the same amount of time but now with easier to use tools.

Wasn't Film Roman available for the reboot. They've done nothing for a long time.
Is Film Roman even good anymore? I recall The Simpsons dipped pretty bad in animation quality around the mid to late teens seasons.

I watched “No Bobby Left Behind” today, and it aged so well. Nowadays, we have schools putting even more fake disorders on students to explain their shit behavior and more moms making being parents of them their whole identities.
That episode produced what is possibly the single funniest screenshot of the shows entire run.

Even though episodes like that are apart of the lessor years of KOTH the sad thing is the political episodes have aged well and have become a dark prediction of the future. The episode about the Green movement and how so much of it was a fad distracting from the common sense aspects of it or the racial grievance/SJW counselor driving the students to hate themselves and almost ruining the carnival organized by a racially diverse group of students are something we have to live with in Current Year+.

And of course Principle Moss really did consider using Dale as a scapegoat to throw under the bus to save his ass for his special-ed class scheme.

I know it’s been said a million times, but that animation, eck!
Reminds me of F is for Family which I felt was a lesser KOTH style show. I actually hate that show now that I think of it.

I’m counting on the writing and the grounded whimsy of Arlen to override the animation, so here’s hoping.

Hank sounds a little off. I know both him & Mike Judge are both in their 60s but that vocal delivery by him sounds so off not to mention monotone. It's higher pitch and a bit nasally, it starts to sound better later in the clip when he adds more "bottom"/bass to the voice. Could be a sound mix or mic issue.

Animation still stiff and shitty as usual.

I've been to the GW Bush Presidential Library. It do look like that on the outside and inside, and it is kind of boring apart from a few artifacts, like WTC wreckage, and a 1:1 scale recreation of the Oval Office.

That fluid, bobbing, walk-cycle animation is trash, looks like some cheap flash shit.
