King of the hill appreciation thread - Yup.

The MySpace episode from the very last season (which initially aired in early 2009, for context) was practically guaranteed to be one of those scripts given the episode's subject matter and the fact that King of the Hill's writers and producers never quite fell into the "How do you do, fellow kids?" rabbit hole that the writers of Zombie Simpsons did.

I'll admit, I will cut the writers of that gag some slack since it was the late 90's when that episode aired and it'd be entirely within character for Boomer suburbanites like in the 1990's thinking that the internet would be a fad and never really catch on so the gags about the internet in the 90's still hold up.

Tellingly, the only one of the four guys who's a regular internet user in the early seasons is Dale as he's an eccentric conspiracy theorist.

Episodes that discussed technology like the Internet or video games were my favorites. It's like a time capsule of what things were before Internet became mainstream, corporate even.

That one gag where Bobby inadvertently went on a White nationalist site for material was clever.

Just watched the episode where Peggy sabotages Lucky's attempt at getting his G.E.D. Is there any other character in Western animation more detestable than Peggy Hill?

There's a plausible fan theory that her skydiving accident caused her to suffer permanent brain damage which made her a narcissist throughout seasons 4+. It makes perfect sense, since in the 1st 3 seasons she was just a humble middle aged woman, but later on became a completely delirious cunt who would sabotage peoples lives behind their backs, or how she had delusions of seeing herself as an intelligent, talented trophy wife. "Luanne Gets Lucky" is no exception.

One of the best things about KOTH is how rewatchable it is. I've watched the show so many times and it's still funny. I will say that more often than not, I skip episodes from the later seasons, though. What I dislike is how Bill was treated in the show. He'd meet a possible love interest and then his buffoonery would push them away. Or in the case of Kahn's mom, they just wrote her out of the show. I heard somewhere that she was planned to be a reoccurring character, but the new writers made the show less sequential and just forgot about her and her relationship with Bill.

I feel like I'm in the minority that doesn't hate Peggy. I guess I'm weird and I find her shitty actions and narc attitude funny.
I'm with you here. Peggy can be annoying, but as someone who enjoys sociopathic characters like Master Shake, her delusions of grandeur mainly just come off as silly.

The whole bitchy housewife trope never done it for me. Peggy is more relatable than Marge Simpson or Lois Griffin.

The older animation of the first season was my favorite. Watching the lines just move as they animate is funny.

It helps that in a few episodes, she suffers from the concequences like in Phish and Wildlife, where she gets arrested for interfering with a crime scene out of the blue.

I've rarely, if ever, seen Marge or Lois get much in the way of comeuppance.

It was a huge missed opportunity not to have a character brutally tear down her delusions like Dale does to Bill when he joins the Harmonaholics.
