King of the Hill’ voice actor Jonathan Joss killed in Texas shooting after argument with neighbor​

Actor Jonathan Joss — best known for his voice work on the iconic animated TV comedy “King of Hill” was shot dead by a neighbor in Texas, according to a report.

Joss, who voiced “John Redcorn” on the long-running cartoon, got into a argument with the neighbor at his home in San Antonio Sunday night when the neighbor pulled out a gun and shot him several times, according to police.

The unnamed gunman then fled the scene in a vehicle but was arrested by police just a block from the residence.

They will give you a hard time because at least in my state, they want to make sure you're not committing fraud or yes, identity theft. If the name in your documents doesn't match your legal name, you risk losing your benefits because the bureaucracy is set up to give you very little leeway. They think you're trying not to pay credit card bills or some nutty shit.

You need to change it on ALL your legal paperwork. Get all of it in order, because otherwise the government will ride your ass for it.

Unless someone lied to me, at least. I'd love to change my name tbh.

The text of this report (enhanced w/ AI) says:
"While on patrol in my marked SAPD vehicle, I was dispatched to the listed location for a shooting in progress call for service. I arrived at the location and observed multiple officers give V1 medical care. I assisted with identifying who a witness was and who had custody of S1. Once more officers arrived on scene, I assisted with separating and ensuring a witness was with an officer and in a vehicle. I was advised S1 without incident and that S1 immediately told them, "I shot him." S1’s weapons were seized, and he was read his Miranda Warning. I contacted [REDACTED] on the incident when he arrived on scene. I contacted Night CID and advised them on the incident. I was advised by EMS that V1’s time of death was 1930. ME/CC pronounced V1. Homicide arrived on scene, and I stood by while they conducted their investigation. CSIs arrived on scene to process the scene."

It also says a gray passenger van is considered evidence.

The article itself says
"The incident report states that on Sunday, the driver pulled into the driveway and parked while she waited for Joss and the other passenger. Joss’s partner on Monday posted on Facebook that he was at the scene when it happened. They told her they would be ready to leave in about five minutes. Alvarez drove up and parked directly behind the woman’s car, the report states. The woman watched as an interaction led to an argument between Joss and Alvarez, the report states. She told police that Alvarez threatened to shoot Joss with a gun and then fired a rifle, the report states. Joss was pronounced dead at the scene."

So I read this as Joss, Lindsey/Travis, and a 3rd unnamed woman drive to the house to pick up mail. Joss & Lindsey go into the house, and the shooter Alvarez parked his car behind their car in the driveway. There was then an argument and a shooting.

Other incident history:
"Alvarez told police that Joss drove in front of his house in an attempt to get him to come out. He said Joss was name-calling and yelling racial slurs at him"
"June 8, 2024, Alvarez told police he saw Joss waking outside his home with a crossbow. Responding officers did not find Joss in possession of a crossbow or a weapon."
"Alvarez said he made multiple reports of Joss harassing him and his brother, “but nothing has been done,” the report states."
"Joss told police that he “does not bother Alvarez at all,” but did say he went to Alvarez’s home to talk about their dogs fighting each other, the report states."

This is the most reasonable take; my theory on the crime is "two insane drug addicts of long acquaintance, one of them armed," not counting the pooner.

I'm disheartened how quickly people are jumping to make public statements where he's a gay martyr. Obviously it'd be career suicide in the industry to publicly post "let's wait for more facts on my ex-coworker getting shot," but it'd be safe to just thoughts'n'prayers it.

One bright note: the husband reported the killer was using homophobic slurs, which means this isn't transphobia! Wonder if she'll try to walk that back, the same way she retroactively changed the house fire to arson, when she realizes she made a financial error.

Right? Honestly the couple admitting previously that the house fire was an accident and clearly not a targeted attack automatically kneecaps her shitty grifting attempt.
Genuinely how many targeted attacks on gay men this year have lead to a fatality if we're not counting a public shooting attempt? My guess would be not many.

I could see this, Joss's erratic online behaviour escalated since he's been with her and she seems entirely insufferable -- But I really perceived this as entirely between the neighbour and Joss, and Tristan making this all about herself after the fact.

Neighbours said this feud has been going on for 6 years - That's way before they ever met, back when Joss was married to a (cis) woman.

And his last public appearance does not lead me to believe he had the reflexes or sobriety to push someone out of the way of sudden gunfire.
