Actor Jonathan Joss — best known for his voice work on the iconic animated TV comedy “King of Hill” was shot dead by a neighbor in Texas, according to a report.

Joss, who voiced “John Redcorn” on the long-running cartoon, got into a argument with the neighbor at his home in San Antonio Sunday night when the neighbor pulled out a gun and shot him several times, according to police.

The unnamed gunman then fled the scene in a vehicle but was arrested by police just a block from the residence.

The KOTH thread mentioned he basically crashed a King of the Hill panel and took a microphone to talk about his experiences. He was homeless for a long while and even was shining shoes outside of the convention center.

Guess ol' Redcorn isn't showing up in anymore seasons.

Yeah they were talking about this on Reddit. He was rambling about stuff and the rest of the cast was really uncomfortable and it was hella awkward.

Just got back from the King of the Hill Reunion show at the Paramount in Austin. For the most part, it was a great time—super fun seeing the cast live, lots of laughs, and a packed crowd of fans. But there was one moment that threw the whole thing off.

Partway through the show, Jonathan Joss (voice of John Redcorn) unexpectedly showed up and kind of hijacked the event. He started calling out the cast and saying things like, “They won’t give me a mic to speak on my own show.” It was awkward and honestly pretty uncomfortable. You could tell the cast and the emcee were totally caught off guard, and the energy in the room shifted fast.

To be fair, this wasn’t totally out of nowhere—he posted on Facebook a month ago saying he’d be outside the show polishing shoes for $5. It sounded a little unhinged, but it turns out he’s been going through a really rough time. He apparently lost his house and his dog in a fire about a year ago, and he’s been homeless since then.

Still, crashing the reunion show like that felt… off. It didn’t seem planned or coordinated with the event at all, and whatever point he was trying to make just kind of got lost in the tension. No one really knew how to react, and the show carried on, but there was definitely a weird vibe for the rest of it.

Not trying to pile on the guy—he’s clearly struggling—but the way it went down was just unfortunate for everyone involved. Thought people here might want to know what happened.

Losing your home and your best friend, then being treated like an outcast by the people you perceived as family… rough. Cannot fathom it. I want to say that he must’ve really pissed the neighbor off, but… I think the show is just cursed at this point

I really fucking hate hearing about all of this. King of the Hill was something of a constant in my life during the 2000s and early 2010s. I frequently watched and rewatched reruns on FX and Adult Swim to the point of having damn near a parasocial relationship with those fictional characters, John Redcorn included.

R.I.P.
I dated non-American women before. King of the Hill was invaluable for explaining American ethos to them. It covers left leaning Americans, right leaning Americans, guns, small town Americana, all of it. With humor and without judgment.
