King of the Hill’ voice actor Jonathan Joss killed in Texas shooting after argument with neighbor​

Actor Jonathan Joss — best known for his voice work on the iconic animated TV comedy “King of Hill” was shot dead by a neighbor in Texas, according to a report.

Joss, who voiced “John Redcorn” on the long-running cartoon, got into a argument with the neighbor at his home in San Antonio Sunday night when the neighbor pulled out a gun and shot him several times, according to police.

The unnamed gunman then fled the scene in a vehicle but was arrested by police just a block from the residence.

Even if you were able to ignore the horrible new VA his personality is also off too. He now ONLY talks about conspiracy theories. Whereas it was a large part of personality in the original run it is 100% of him now.

I watched 3-4 episodes last night and this was the biggest issue I had. In every scene with Dale he’s just standing there completely motionless while other characters talk until he chimes in with some conspiracy non sequitur “joke” unrelated to anything going on in the scene, Hank will nod and go “Ok, Dale.” and then the scene continues as if he didn’t say anything.

Honestly it seemed like they’d written the episodes without intending to include Dale and then had to go back to shoehorn him in after changing their minds, that’s how shallow the character comes off.

Jonathan Joss's wife is in one of my King of the Hill groups. Any time she ever posted, even before his death, it was only ever about Joss or the character John Redcorn. She hasn't said a thing since June.

She didn't seem to have an actual personality of her own and kept using Joss to get attention for herself. I think she realizes people were getting pissed over how she handled the situation, and not being truthful, so she's stayed silent. I can't see her saying anything else unless she can figure out how try and manipulate the situation again to her favor.

Maybe when the dude who shot Joss is sentenced she'll say something?

Watched six episodes of the new series last night Dale's voice is unbelievably bad and immediately takes me out of the story going on. If Dale was more of a side character that appeared once in a while this would be fine but he's in most episodes and has major plotlines in the show. I cannot ignore the fact his inflection, cadence and line delivery is totally off. He sounds nothing like Dale. It's really, really bad. The way he speaks is just totally off and not even in a "sounds kind of like him but off" but he does not sound like Dale period.

Yeah you could tell that Dale's Original VA was VERY ill and sounded nothing like he did the first time around. Sad to hear.

It was explained as covid making everyone else like him and he just further leaned into it because for once in his life he was actually being listened to
