I wanted to offer my two cents on his recent ramblings about rape.

I think the simplest explanation is the right one: a troll texted him implying Josh will eventually rape someone, which really got to him because he knows someone that was raped. His reaction to the trolling just invited more trolling, resulting in a bigger reaction from him, which leads to more trolling, more reactions, and it just keeps snowballing because he won't shut up about it.

I reached this conclusion by rewatching his videos from the past couple weeks. I'm sharing my notes below because it helps to see how things have snowballed to where they are today. Thank you to @Ellesse_warrior and everyone else who archives and provides timestamps. Your work made this task much easier.

There are also a couple explanations that have gained traction on his subreddit, and neither sit quite right with me. They are:
1. He has committed statutory rape by having sex with a minor and is putting forth an "anti-rape" persona now as a preemptive defense against impending allegations.
2. While not a rapist, he is having a psychotic break with reality, as seen in his mumbles and whispers, and he will rape eventually.

My thoughts on those explanations:
1. I don't think he had sex with a minor, because if he had sex he would tell everyone about it. I do think he's gullible and horny enough to get in a "she said she was 18" situation, but he's such a fucking mess at this point I couldn't see any young woman wanting a piece of that.
2. And I don't think he's having a psychotic break. The mumbles and whispers are due to the recent influx of booze and CBD bud (aka spice). His shitty mood as he approaches 30 also contributes. I think there's also purposeful attention seeking behavior on his part, as he feels like shit and wants to be comforted, and the trolling is something that can get him sympathy.
