Sadly, I think Clint has broken after the last year. After the birthday dinner shitshow and the year end jail saga I think he's given up hope and just sees Cobes as a burden that will hopefully die soon so that he can pay attention to other things. He is very likely happy to see Cobes on duster and sees it as a ticket out of continuing to pay the boglims rent and grocery bills every month.

Clint stopped giving a shit the moment he got Family Redo. He did the bare minimum while Josh was still in his house ("do this or get a haircut...!") and now he does what he can to essentially keep him out of his life. Hard to larp as a feminist that takes pics of naked freshmen girls while your son makes up bullshit tard molestation stories on youtube. He doesn't care what happens to him, just how much it costs and his image he can continue to portray.

Also, highly unlikely Cobes gets any help for his addictions and damn guaranteed he won't do anything about his teeth. My assumption was that he drank for the pain and thanks to his love of sweet liquor, he's now an alcoholic and his teeth need yanked.

See, that's a thing I can understand.
At some point you can cut ties or get buck broken.

But what kind of asshole do you have to be to call the cops on someone who points it out?
It's just Clint's ego, he can't handle just saying: "Yeah I tried, nothing will work on Josh apart from having him commited and group homed".
He can't just say: "I dont't care anymore". I mean he could, but his ego probably won't let him. (I wouldn't blame him if he did btw, stop fence sitting dude)
No that's not gonna fly with Clint apparently, call the police on an the evil trole who dares to worry about a poor boglim.

This hypocritical fence sitting is also kind of enabling.

I don't really agree with that. I think Clint does care about Josh and loves him but he's been so burnt out by his hundreds of refusals to change his life that he gave up. That doesn't excuse him ignoring the duster abuse though. If I was Clint I would go right over to his apartment and scream at him and take it from him. Clint controls Josh's SSI for him so he has insane amounts of leverage. His step mom also buys him groceries.

This all reminds me of a grimdark alternate timeline version of Steven Universe from the Darkest Timeline, where instead of looking back on his golden years in the music industry while helping his son navigate life, Greg Universe simply enables his autistic failson in huffing air duster

I'm still not sure how I feel about Clint... I have suspected from the beginning like many others that he is a narcissist, mostly because of his responses on the sub-reddit, but at the same time it seems like Clint really did try everything.

Then again, I suspect that a lot of the things Clint claimed to do for Josh when he was young are completely made up. There's no way of knowing for sure though - it just seems like the kind of thing that he would retroactively say to virtue signal or establish that he was a caring and loving father to his disabled son and had tried everything already. Narcissists are often masters of narrative construction and they lie to themselves more than they lie to others. It's very possible that Clint himself no longer knows the truth.

I find it far more likely that once Josh reached like age 13 and started acting up Clint was plotting on ways to get rid of him. Job Corp was the first step in this direction but it didn't work so then he had Josh get a job at Wendys which didn't work out either. So from then he just put him on SSI so he would stay away from his new family, even though at that point I think Josh still could have had a menial job. I guess Clint could have just abandoned Josh but that would have probably damaged his all important small town reputation (and we all know it actually would). Putting your disabled son on SSI and parking him in the shitsville estates because you don't want to deal with him doesn't exactly look good either, so he has constructed this 'good father' story to compensate. That's what I actually think now after the 'duster response'. I feel like if he weren't a narcissist he would either cut him loose or actually care for Josh's well-being instead of doing the bare minimum to keep him alive / not homeless and virtue signaling all the time.

Really though, I agree that Clint has given up all hope. Honestly, I think he gave up hope a decade ago when he got Josh on SSI. From that point on he just wanted to make sure that he was out of sight and out of mind so he could raise his real family in peace. Honestly I feel this way about SSDI in general. I know it's there for people that need it, but I have rarely seen someone get OFF of SSDI after they start to receive it. It is kind of a 'soft death sentence' or 'stay out of society please' payment. That's how it seems to work in practice anyway...

He would never admit it, but I'm sure Clint would be relieved if Josh passed away, but he needs to maintain his 'image' so he will virtue signal to the very end, choosing to live in delusion simply because it requires less effort from him and maintains his 'false' image as a perfect father.

Yeah, you're right. I definitely expected a different response. I guess we can drop all pretenses about him now. It's clear he wants to be left alone and not deal with any retarded boglim problems for the rest of his days. I can't blame him, but at the same time, it's still really sad to see a father abandon their son.
