yeah delta 8 stuff is trash and you build a tolerance so so incredibly fast and the effects are minimal imo, especially if you're using it regularly like cobes. d8 flower is generally not well regarded in the alt-cannabis scene, as it's just cbd flower sprayed with d8 distillate mixed with other shit, often things you don't want to smoke.
As I mentioned earlier in the thread I wish somebody would introduce him to (or send to him if you're into that) some THCA flower which is legal in his state, it's easily the best farm bill loophole to exist, as the (naturally grown) THCA decarbs into just normal THC so its literally just normal weed basically. It's relatively cheap, and he can order it legally to his door, might even be able to find it at a store locally. I really do feel like some decent weed + alcohol would scratch the itch he has, which is just to feel fucked up, and I think the crossfade would be enough so maybe he won't be interested in retarded shit like huffing duster.
It looks like the 4bidden leaf place just sells weird synthesized alt noids like "d9o, thco, hhc, hhcp, tchp" etc. Also a ton of kratom stuff.
