His place looks like low income housing and probably has some rules like that in the lease. It wouldn't surprise me, maybe not overnight guests but guests for more than X days. I think the last townhouse I was renting had a seven day limit for guests staying over. I wasn't in low income housing so I assume its a fairly common lease clause

Good information. I haven't rented in a while, but $850ish for a studio shithole on the outskirts of Casper WY made me gasp. Even renovated, that's crazy to me.
