He started off life deprived of any willpower or intelligence, at this point he’s so devoid of willpower that it is an impossibility that he’ll ever stop drinking. The persona is just a cope so he can feel justified in the behaviour, it doesn’t fuel the alcoholism so much as the alcoholism fuels it.
