Kingcobrajfs is a musical artist who’s had a prolific career. Most well known for the absolute masterpiece Hell’s Advocate. A bombastic album full of classics where KingCobraJFS alternates between songs about evil, satanism, smoking weed, and some more vulnerable . I gave it a 10/10. On the back of that we had the classic comedy Christmas Cobra’s Crude Christmas Carols (10/10) as a palate cleanser before we dive deep into one of his most personal albums Love and Vanity. Love and Vanity was a deeply personal and philosophical album about love and its place in the world and Cobra’s own struggles with it. Another classic and a 10/10 album
To depart from his vulnerability with Love and Vanity cobra released Rebel Revolution something that can be described as a party album. An epic album about not giving a fuck about society and consuming drugs. Following the depth of Love and Vanity an album of party music feels so pedestrian and like an attempt to save face and appear cool. 7/10. Following that we got Stan’s Bell which many consider a sort of spiritual successor to Hell’s Advocate. While it doesn’t reach the same heights it is a good return to form and has some absolute bangers like Bell Tower Bashing 8/10.
After Satan’s Bell we got King Cobra’s Comedy Album. An unbearable and nonsensical attempt the less said about it the better. 3/10. On the back of that cobra hit us with what some may say is the third in the “Hell Trilogy” made up of Hell’s Advocate and Satan’s Bell. At the Gates of Hell seems to be a sort of greatest hits for cobra, a mix of all sorts of what he’s known for. Deeper songs about vulnerability, party songs, and strangely enough only one song about hell. It was a confusing release that feels more like a mixtape than an album with a vision 6/10
In one of his biggest departures yet KingCobraJFS release a hip-hop album that was surprisingly awesome. It was a risk to depart so much from what he’s known for but this album goes hard, he’s not afraid to strike out dropping multiple diss tracks on the album. A bold and badass album that does what Rebel Revolution attempted but much more successfully 9/10
Much to dismay of many fans cobra returned to his standard schitzo metal with Sinister Snakes. An album that feels like an attempt to recapture his glory days of Hell’s Advocate but instead it just comes across as a lazy and worse retread of what came before. The only standout track is Chainsaw Sicko Massacre but even then it’s clear it’s just a less inspired retread of Belltower Bashing from Satan’s Bell. 5/10
That brings us to today with his most recent release Life Ain’t Fair. And I gotta tell you, this new KingcobraJFS album? It’s NOT GOOD. Not to get too deep into his personal life but cobra has been through both a relationship and a messy ongoing breakup. Some fans thought this would lead to his best work yet and potentially a spiritual sequel to Love and Vanity. Instead it opens with a horribly repetitive rap song. A song of nothing but fart samples. Multiple songs that if we were to be very generous could be called Pink Floyd song “reinventions” but more accurately called plagiarism. With the songs that he doesn’t plagiarize he has nothing new to say he hasn’t already done before but better. Then, on top it all, the album ends with terrible uninspired “bonus ai tracks”. NOT GOOD/10
