I would bet he already has full blown type 2 diabetes. The complications don't come all at once, but the longer it's uncontrolled the worse the complications and difficulty controlling it. If diagnosed early enough patients can get good outcomes with simple medication and diet. If not patients end up insulin dependent to manage the condition, and if patients do not comply with their treatment, it progresses quicker, then they get to enjoy all the horrors of the late stage complications. Gangrene feet is totally goth dood.At this point he must be pretty close to being pre-diabetic right? Sadly it’s very likely once he requires insulin that he will be probably forgetting to take it or simply refusing to.
That's not to mention the cost of drugs in the USA. I fear the boy is doomed.
