I was going to make a comment about about how he maybe...MAYBE should just stick to playing guitar, but then I watched a vid of him playing and uh, it sounds like garbage. You know who could shred? EVH. Eruption solo is amazing.

is Josh self taught? He lacks any sort of musicality and if you took away the very heavy distortion, the crapiness would shine through. I know I’m late, just as a musician I didn’t listen to him play until now. I expected him to sound somewhat decent since he has a lot of time to practice.

He learns off of YouTube tutorials. He just picks licks he wants to learn and never bothered with the chords or notes. There's also the spooky tuning. His raps are good though. The streams where he just starts spitting rhymes are always great.

That makes sense. Surprised he cant at least pull off the riff to Smoke On The Water or Sweet Child of Mine, or like every Green Day song because power chords are an easy way to sound good.

Presumably he just has "retard hands", because he's tried to play the National Anthem repeatedly and seems like he had tried to learn it proper, and just couldn't actually get his hands to work as intended. Considering his world famous of dropping shit from out of nowhere, it's my professional opinion that his retardation has resulted in stunted motor skills that simply prevents him from actually playing the instrument no matter if he attempts to learn chords or not.

Bit of guitar sperging, but this is exactly why I often practice unplugged, so I actually can tell what I'm playing (side note, anyone know what gear he uses to achieve his tone? I've seen what looks like a Fender amp, but he's gotta have a MetalZone or a cheap, even shittier knockoff of one running through it to achieve that level of crap). All I've ever seen from his videos is just mindless "gotta go fast" shit without demonstrating any of the skills that good fast players like EVH, Randy Rhoads, or Zakk Wylde posses. I'm tempted to send him a metronome, just to see if he would either not know what the fuck it was or throw a fit because it would be "insulting his skills" or some shit like that.

Just turn down the fucking gain. It's not like overdrive/distortion is just an on/off thing, you don't need to be unplugged, just less drive. He also does not use any effect pedals, he has said he has a "fender mustang amp with built in effects" like a thousand times. Its just a little practice amp that he has dimed out and it sounds like shit.

he had a BC Rich Warlock which he destroyed during a stream. Now he plays a green Starcaster with spooky tuning (which I think is drop c or something like that) and uses distortion and delay which obviously covers up mistakes. Fender made the Starcaster strats up until 2018.
