Considering Stenchever's vote it's looking like it'll be MA. I'll leave the roster open till this weekend, then I'll finalize and gen up a map. I will update the roster. I'll lock in as Ind.

That's how it always goes, and hell I have played alot and Zog who is new to the game killed me along with another player. Diplomacy is probably your friend more than anything and looking at tutorials.
The trick to starting games as a newbie is that you potentially have months to learn more about how the game works so all you need to do is figure out a pretender design that doesn't suck too much and practice your initial expansion in singleplayer.

few people have a successful first game. And, feel free to ask questions here in the thread about tactics and whatnot

Yeah I've been trying to figure out what a good pretender for MA Jotunheim should be. I'm thinking some kind of rainbow path Skratti pretender or one of the immobiles with a bless that would benefit thugs and mages given a shroud. I'm thinking Monolith but I'd love to hear some ideas for a rainbow Skratti pretender.

It took me a long while to get a win, it's not easy especially as the games get bigger, if anyones new I'd say don't worry if you lose a lot. Only one man gets the victory, and it gets tougher the more players there are. A lot of it can boil down to diplomacy and luck. Even if you have a scary as hell strat, everyone can band together to kill your ass usually.

Map position puts in a lot of work with how the game will go. Did you spawn next to a brand new player who gets his pretender killed expanding? Or did you spawn on a peninsula and now you're boxed out by MA Ermor.

That's one of the reasons why it's so fun though since there's a lot of variance.

Yomi and I just had a big fight. My deaths look HUGE but I lost 366 of my living units while the rest were undead. Nasty fight.

The global/spell animations in general went up in quality for sure if they didn't get an all new one. I don't recall vortex having that in 5 but I am not a bloody boy.

Servers were down, they're back now. (also fuck I pressed the wrong button and now I gotta redo the partial turn I saved).
