Kiwi Dominions 6 Community - TW:WH3 but for actual autists

going to give the illwinter lobbies one more shot, and if they fail again, then I am going to use the blitzserver, god bless the scalie admin for working quickly

I think the server is hung up on generating a world again. This is very strange considering every other instance I've done so far that this has never happened. Would probably try the blitzservers at this point assuming it stays hung up.

Yeah this one is stuck on creating the world too. I did a bit of googling and found some people on the steam forums briefly mentioning it.

Just another reason to dislike random gen, hopefully they fix it. Praying that some good maps get uploaded to the workshop or ported from Dom5. Random gen is too much of a dice roll if you're going to get a good cap circle or not. I love being Ubar and 3 of provinces are inaccessible for me due to either a mountain or a lake. I have no way to get into, unless I get lucky and get a village with amphibious generics. Not having s full wraparound only makes it more likely for this to happen.

I have no idea how many were in the lobby before the mapgen error. I thought I saw 8 players but if anyone else wants to join just post in the thread.
Can you also change the MOTD to something along the lines of "if there are any issues please refer to thread"?

Aye. If all else fails I'd just slap a 6 player map (random or otherwise), and then we'll limit it to whichever six that joins.

Join the link on the top right, as you would a normal game. Don't mind the map, I'm sorting it out at the moment.

Alright, triple-posting, but since we have 8, I'll be starting the game (and uploading a bigger random map to fuck around with.) Good luck, boys. Timer will be at 24 hours for the first 36 turns, and 48 after.

Any recommendations on sites/Youtubers for AARs and campaigns? Dominions is one of those games I've fiddled with in the past, but never really got too into with the depth it has and the length of PBEM games. I really enjoy reading other people's strategy write-ups, though. Reminds me a little of the days of old screenshot Let's Plays and 56k warnings.

Lucidtactics is pretty good for introductory stuff. He does get distracted and goes off topic alot. Does a lot of series that demonstrates his thinking. He also has a tournament series and goes over the tactics the players are taking
HP Munchcraft talks about tactics in detail and even has a podcast concerning obscure strategies
The-3-Horned Boar talks about builds, usually with lower-tier nations
Dastactics meanders a lot, and makes a bunch of beginner mistakes. You can watch him, but I THINK his insight is dogshit compared to the others mentioned

Do not let the roster fool you, while the nation is composed of living, horny, greek creatures, their main threat comes from the horde of skeletons, animated by vines. Not to mention that the dominion of Asphodel kills population (up to a certain point).
Have you kill Asphodel's mages? Not so fast there bucko because in addition to nature magic, Asphodel mages are skilled in death magic. Which means the can cast the spell twiceborn. Which means that mages who have cast this spell can come back from their first death. Not to mention that the mages of Asphodel can summon undead versions to bolster their hordes of angry vines, trees, and satyrs

Behold the remnants of the nation of Ermor. For the uninitiated, imagine the empire of Rome and their legions but now imagine that service doesn't end with death as your corpse is reanimated to wage endless war for your god and empire.
Don't let the lineup fool you. Sceleria's lineup has several decent options for a human troops. But, all options pale to just summoning 500 skeletons with their Scelerian Cultists and their Thaumaturg. Expect to see several stacks of ~1000 of skeletons as you fight for dear life.

A nation composed of half-genies, their slaves, and some giant wandering jews, Na'Ba is a nation that decent, but lightly armored troop option. Their true strength lies in the descendants of the djinn of Ubar, the Malikah queens. Masters in air, fire and glamor, expected to see a lot of evocations, elementals, and thugs.

Imagine a nation composed of barely-sentient monkies in a caste system, which isn't that different from their real life inspiration, India. Much like the indians, the monkies of Bandar Log rely on overwhelming numbers to defeat their opponents. But, sometimes their front line monkies around and from there the monkies can call upon the aid of the devatas and various other hindu-inspired characters. Some monkies also have the ability to reincarnate, but much like reddit karma, you accumulate negative karma by killing, those who have killed have a chance at coming back, but as lesser beings.

Aloof birdmen who live atop of frozen mountains. Most of their troops are lightly armored but don't let that fool you. Like a nightmare out of Alfred's Hitchcock's movie, Caelum is very capable of fielding swarms of highly mobile, angry, birdmen. If their mobility wasn't an issue, their mages are another. As the pinnacle of air magic, expect to see lightning, thunder, and air elementals.

Mictlan (Underworld in Nahutl) are under the thumb of the mythical Coatls, Flying-snakes. While their weaponry archaic, the nation of Mictlan usually has a powerful bless that turn their mediocre eagle and jaguar warriors into, unstoppable, human-sized blenders. If that wasn't enough, Mictlan has several powerful mages to support their eagle and jaguar warriors.

Egyptian Lizards under the rule of the Sobeks (think Kroxigors from Warhammer). If that isn't enough, their slingers now field poisonous ammunition, guranteed to give anyone who isn't resistant to poison a bunch of grief. Also, the dominion of C'tis can turn the land into swamp which makes invading Citis annoying.

Na-na-na boo-boo, you can't touch me, I am under water. A cancerous, brain dead nation, who will sit underwater, gathering an army of Meteorite guards to move onto land. Ryleh can also casually recruit 100 lobo guards to make fighting their armies even more cancerous. Ryleh is also the premier astral nation, so your commanders to die from ilithids mind hunting yoru commanders.

But also, turns are flying by pretty quick.
 
Just had a HUGE major battle in another game as Asphodel and funnily enough another C'tis player. Asphodel really is solid now despite being overall weaker to Ermor/Scalaria I feel.
