Kiwi Dominions 6 Community - TW:WH3 but for actual autists

Might as well summarize the last half dozen turns or so.

Pangaea has largely been retreating from my fat stacks but did hit it once with a smaller but mage heavy army featuring an earthquake cast.

Sadly he only cast it once, and it only killed two of my mages, largely because my Marble Army cast went off before the quake. Some cursing and rusting also happened which technically slowed down this stack from rampaging further, though it was going to swerve to defend the newly acquired thrones anyway.

Not a lot of screenshots since it's been largely one-sided. My other stacks slowly marched through Pan and Tienchi's turf, while swatting raiders. At one point I broke off a siege of a Chineman fort to deal with the Eternal Knights they twice outbid me on (soul slay x3 wasn't enough), and every now and then a vamp got owned.


Pan made the questionable decision of sending out fully geared Minotaurs to raid, and I responded by teleporting stronger thugs on top of them, along with the occasional backline wind mage to collect the loot. A 200hp Earth King gave me pause when I saw it but then I remembered I'm a blood nation and threw an Islamic heaven's worth of virgins at the problem.


Marignon officially joined the coalition against the threat by sending his own thug hunters against mine, managing to take out an Arch Devil but failing to pick up the candy since the devil died during retreat instead of on the field.

Meanwhile Marignon struggled to finish off the Vaetis eventually having a go at Feminie instead taking one of the two thrones they had.

Also tons of attacks from random undead every turn thanks to the Throne of Bones, at the end I got a bunch of free skeletons and one pajama vamp unit.

Having been the innocent victim of repeated instance of anonymous Fires from Afar, I hit the guy with lots of Fire mages with the bigger version, Flames from the Sky.

Harry "Vampire" Potter sacrifices some preps to nuke a fire snake and an infantry men then eats shit to the second soul slay despite having a lead shield. The rest of the golems beat up the poor angel with Black Halberds. Another Harbinger walks into what is clearly a bad neighborhood and gets got as well.

Turns out insufficient evocations and Flyer Support, coupled with Flaming Arrows not being cast due to an interruption by a stray arrow dragged this out to turn 20 where the fatigue was too much. Maybe if I spared an Astral pearl for some sphere power I wouldn't have lost 10 mages.

It's all going to be over soon. Hope CWC5 gets a more balanced map so someone won't win the game during expansion.

Also, a special activity for the thread, decide the fate of Marin's stack. Do I spare Marignon's stack or Condemn it to Flames from the Sky?

I have no idea how the situation is in the game right now, but END HIM RIGHTLY. of topic but Agent of ZOG is rampaging right now which is honestly kind of based.

I'd say if you are going to post battles, perhaps try posting the results screen. so others can get a better idea on the resources/recruitment points

actually kind of harsh, I dont know what kind of army the chinks had, but I bet you, if the chinks used their ancestor summon spell, they probably would have defended that fort. Bringing it back in, you definitely need to take care of your communion/sabbath slaves because that is gold and turns that you are losing out on


Marignon if you are reading this right now, you should definitely go into plague demon spam, and demon knight spam (uber chunky and takes buffs easily). Devils are also super meaty if you can get that "blood frenzy" that buffs all your demons. With that spell, your devils can cut right through heavy ulm plate armor easily. I think Marignon has limited access to astral, so you can body etheral

Also keep in mind that golems are mindless and are thus unaffected by mind hunt (this is a general statement directed to no on in particular)

First off @Ensi ive been playing this game since Dom 3. Trying to spam Demon Knights at this point is just not going to happen given how Ulm has moved here. But I appreciate that you want to help all of the time.

I wasnt struggling with Vaettiheim either, guy doesnt script his mages and he always sends his armies in without hold to attack, he is obviously very new, which is what I was expecting on KF I was trying to give him some tips with ingame letters, and hoped he’d step it up so we could have better fights. So I had withdrawn and just kept my thugs on him so he would be on the defensive instead of wasting my time trying to siege his capital, when I also needed to do magic research. Since Ive been fighting people a lot and devoting mage resources towards fighting this entire game. I was aware for awhile that Ulm was just sitting around and I had to play catchup on research

I certainly didnt expect the kind of retalation i did and difficulty with The ai Andramania where i needed to constantly have my guys get body ethereal and have them lose anyway, what the fuck is that shit? I just chalk it up to my not knowing whats new in Dom 6 at the start of this game, this is my first MP along with an Ea one i was in with friends simultaneously.

But that was a surprise for me. But as for you Ulm, you cant tell me or anyone else that youre not try harding here.

That is bullshit. If anyone could say the map was in favour of anyone it would be me with sailing the way the oceans got arranged. Everyone else in this game besides yourself and myself has barely participated, except when you started barreling over everyone. People were hesitant to attack you for whatever reason or they didnt know you had 30% of the map with your templar expansion. You have 8 research in every school and some level 9 spells; picked a stronger race for LA and just got to sit around, Id guess that in previous games already you've won in a similar manner.

I just got my first level 8 school so id stand a chance against your bullshit. I will probably lose this round but since you have outted yourself twice now with this game and The blitz I will play hard since you’re intent on being a big fish in a little pond here.

You had a pond in the middle of nowhere, which is useful but not game winning I had decent expanders but in a "balanced" map they'd reach someone else's borders and that's that, here there was a whole ocean of Indie provinces between me and my NorthWest neighbors.

My pre-war borders were where my dominion is, more or less, I intentionally slowed down expansion later on (and then got bored and bumped Pan's big stack with a bigger stack).


My post expansion options were to either go into Feminie who was doing badly and have 4/5 thrones by turn 20 or wait and go east into the stronger neighbors (past Patala) once I felt like it.

I will admit I neglected to utilize stupid thugs over real ones.

Id guess that in previous games already you've won in a similar manner.

This is mostly a case of the mages being under-supplied, I lost less of them when I fought a bigger army in a previous fort. He cast shadow bolts then defaulted to gool ol'd horde of skeletons post script with his ancestor guides and I guess more spirit spam might have helped a bit since I also failed to cast Divine Channeling due to another arrow.

yeah that rough for the mongol chinks to lose 20 mages in that fight. I wouldn't know what to do in this scenario. The only thing that I can think of is to switch to glaive and pike footmen to bump and grind with heavy armor and switch to ancestor smiths and spirit masters earth/nature buffs with some death/air/nature offensive.

Yeah I was pretty much just phoning it in. I somehow managed to lose my pretender turn one in expansion. I should have playtested more, but oh well. Probably the worst I've ever done in a game. Not sure I like playing as them.
 
I think ultimately, my inexperience with Dom 6 and general 6 lategame shows a lot here. LA Pan's strength was always been their excellent troops composition and early communions which you can get going, but blood nations always gets me in the end.

There used to a lot of staples that I relied on in 5 (mass luck, mass doom, mass fog warrior) that wasn't quite where I expected it to be so there were a few turns where I was just eating shit because I only had the group version but not the battlefield wide one lol. But yeah, got outteched hard too. Drain 1 was probably fatal in the long term, and probably something I need to shy away from in the future.

Good experience though, I should practice more. (if I have the time and inclination, but this game is very draining when it came to late game).
 
Do you want Ctis or Caelum? If you don't tell me it's going to suck for you not having the right type of starting province do to generic map gen.

Ill do Caelum, Ive been meaning to do them for awhile now I like to learn new races.

Im not really a mapnuke guy though i prefer hand made maps, and I am making some right now. Most of my joy from this game comes from modding and mapping.

Id suggest instead of centralizing thrones its better to have them asymmetrically placed. Just as well the populations of provinces id say was also pretty crazy, finding swamps and wastes that are natively 10k people and giving close to 100g a turn + sites is a lot. Part of the strategic importance in holding these provinces is for the magic resources and rituals, so making them even more lucrative instead of making the player prioritize them over big money provinces kind of defeats the point of them.

Also i had advised LA Tienchi to do cloud trap wind of death on Ulm, but I dont think he understood.

Thats like TC’s biggest game winning move especially in a defensive war where your mage can safely return into a nearby fort instead of magic phase attacking. It would had easily decimated the besieging armies because Ulmites have a racial penalty to MR.

Also Pan there is nothing wrong with taking Drain in a game with lots of blood nations, especially now since you have access to the nature research booster which is new in dom6 and i didnt know about either until later on. You still had really great research and I imagine you could have thwarted Ulm on your own and myself, in fact I was thinking youd win this game when i saw mother oak go up, but youve also been very busy clearly and distracted so no hard feelings. Taking seemingly bad scales that you can mitigate the penalties of but pushing your dom into other peoples lands to hurt them is still a part of the game that I feel most overlook outside of the obvious with temps.

If you guys want you are free to look at the maps on blitzserver. I randomly gen them with mapnuke2 since it has had better generation than vanilla and helps prevent shit like cave starts with 2 cap provs on and island with no way off. That being said I'd really not want some supremely meta "balance" map either. Those'd be lame, gay, and stale but that's my opinion.

That's just Late Age, pops are higher all around in dom6.

You can compensate for Drain 2 with money and parking your research province on a non-drain neighbor's border. A certain someone did something like that in CWC 1 with native Drain 2.
Though it didn't help someone cast the drain global this game. (I was going to cast it myself after nobody replied to the offer for cheap research boosters).
You can also just find a Library, Magus site and three magic schools like I did.

Hate to do this, but I am feeling very sick right now and have zero motivation to really play. I'll do my turn for LA when I can but I think I am going to skip on this EA game. Feel free to continue without me.
 
I think its probably best to remake your map since we are expecting 4 players. Unless you want to do the opposite and make 1 ai player per participant to fill out the map.

Also i cant post it right now but I very nearly won against you Ulm. Your golems saved you at the very end but even after eating fires from the sky and losing 30 mages and half my army I came back with a vengeance.

And There is more of that where that came from. You had better keep trying hard because there is an opening now for everyone to pull you apart; and Im just going to make more of them. Tienchi if youre reading this. Hurry up and winds of death his doom stacks so you can actually recover your countryside lol
