Kiwi Farms Community Doom Mapping Project

I should also add that I can't guarantee anything. I'm flattered that people want to make stuff for the next mod, but I don't know when that'll be or what'll be included. I'd hate for any work to go to waste.

Regardless of what makes the cut for any community projects, I would still encourage anyone with an interest to pursue it anyways. A lot of these projects are more time-consuming then they are difficult, and it takes hands-on experience to figure out all the quirks of the engine and tool set. Just because you can't make the next big thing now doesn't mean you can't make the next big thing down the road.

I overall enjoyed the maps. Some of them were designed in a very Doom dickish way, but it was fun. It's just nice overall seeing a collaborative effort on the Farms for something as timeless as Doom.

I'm hoping to see some refinement over time. I'm sure the fact this even exists would make the bugmen on Doomworld seethe, but the amount of salt that would come from us having a GOOD wad would be even better.

Finished the WAD this morning. Somehow got myself soft-locked in the final map, as I didn't collect the red key card. An IDCLIP fixed that though. Overall, it was a good collection of maps with some great talent on display.

Try running it in 98 compatibility, I had the same problem.

Having played through my map multiple times I legit did not run into any problems. WOMM as far as the eye can see for the keycard issues. :stress:

Except for this. Every plus sign visible here along with the wall of fire in front of the server counted as an additional secret for some reason, I guess I forgot to do a proper cleanup. Deleted the tags and now the map only shows 4 secrets, as it should - cwc shirt, fatrick prison, cheese and the burning server room.
Can't do a thing about the bugged key spawns because I honestly cannot reproduce it.

Bit of a powerlevel, but I remember modding back in the day, before Patreon and paid mods changed things. People made stuff for fun, and shared them for free, for fun.

Many modding and game development communities talk about theory and ideas, but never actually make things. Stuff like this is more in that "anything goes as long as it's fun" mentality that's often lost these days.

Although "Festering Axe Wound" makes me want to cry, I am determined to finish this WAD on Nightmare.
Good luck with that. I never finished the second fatrick map even on easy with the cheats on.

I don't even know anymore. Just as I remember the red keycard is spawned by the CD sitting behind the player when he teleports into the first % room.
Don't worry about it. It was never a vanilla mechanic. I think it's breaking so much because people are either using different engines, old versions of the engine, or are loading mods like Brutal Doom that replace the monsters.

but never actually make things.
Can confirm with an off topic example:
The Spring Game Engine (Beyond all reason and ZeroK's game engine) was born to port Total Annihilation to a newer engine, and Supreme Commander Forged Alliance too. BAR has been stagnant for years and ZeroK became it's own thing, everyone on the reddits and forums talk how the game should be but nobody actually talk on making it. Yet everyone is just sitting there saying "it surely would be cool tho".
Good thing FAF still exists despite the servers acting up (but less than BAR, really, it's ridiculous, can't play for more than 5 minutes without someone desynchronizing).

Back on topic: Since everyone talked about Hexen's map, that hub feature can be done on Doom 2 as well, iirc, you don't need hexen specifically. Same goes for Strife too.

Making a strife-inspired kf-themed wad would be cool but probably unthinkable/:optimistic:.

Everything is possible if people just put some effort into it. I will try to make as much Kiwi-relevant assets as I have time for and I hope I can get many others to join too.
