Probably still one of these. They have sometimes dozens (hundreds?) of profiles for activities, so hiking is bound to be included. If you're into very long activities that your battery would not survive, you should exclude Apple Watch as it has pretty low battery life from what I read, and instead get something that you can get feedback online that it'll last for how long you need it.
Do understand that the recording mode is way more intensive than day to day use. You could extract a 15 hrs long tracking session, or 15 days of just tracking sleep, steps and HR. Enabling continuous HR tracking, high accuracy GPS, always on screen is very demanding.

10k today, chip time 1:06, previous pb 4 years ago was 1:12
Weight is barely below 110kg from 120 in June (3 meals plus pre/post workout food 2400 cal/day). I may adjust target weight to 95 or 90kg around xmas.
Heartrate was very high but I'm limiting distance to 10k before new year while I build a base and that gives my heart and lungs time to train.
Averaging 15 miles a week so far plus weight training I want to stay around 18 miles a week for a bit. I stretch a lot, dynamic before running, static after.
The hotel fees for the London marathon are gonna fist me sideways.
 
My ankle had been bothering me the past week, so I did more casual runs last week. It felt better so I did a more moderate run last night and today my ankle is killing me.

I usually run for 30 minutes at a time, 4 days a week. Last week I didn't go above 3.1 miles in 30 minutes, but yesterday did 3.5. Felt fine until bed time *sigh*
 
I just started running last week, technically I'm not even running yet, just walking for now.

I went to a running store and got a new pair of sneakers and holy shit, I'm in love. My orthotics really make such a huge difference. I want a second pair to put in my everyday shoes.

I'm registering for a 5k that's happening at the end of March. I'm just going to walk that one, even if I'm dead last. Then I plan on doing another in October or November, because summer here is brutal, that I'll run.

I do a lot of my walks in the gym, I like being able to stay a certain speed consistently and not having to watch the ground. My neighborhood is full of very uneven sidewalks and pavement. But I do go on 3 mile walks outside. Since the sidewalks are so awful or non-existant, I do a lot of walking on the road.

I only walk during the day and always facing oncoming traffic. Should I still get one of those flashing lights and a safety vest? Or am I being a paranoid retard? One of the adults I looked up to as a teenager almost died when he and his wife were hit by a car, his wife did die.

c25k or fartlek methods both work, lots of clubs help people through this stage and are a great way to build a support network. Smart watches are great for tracking progress. If it hurts, rest and recover. IMO if you can't use a pavement please use a park.

wear what makes you feel comfortable, though flashing lights don't help in the daylight, and a safety vest is just as likely to make you a target if you're walking/running on the roads. in my experience, bright (but not neon) colors are preferable. they increase your visibility without encouraging anyone to fuck with you. when you wear a vest, you're declaring space on the road, and there are a lot of angry and belligerent drivers who think that roads are for them and them alone, which is unfortunate because asphalt is so much more forgiving than concrete sidewalks are. if you choose to use the road, be vigilant, and always leave yourself time and space to get out of the road if need be.

Any advice on how to get back in shape for a marathon?

long, slow distance training. stay hydrated, stretch after every run, and gradually increase your distance.
if you focus on your breathing, consistency, and distance, eventually your speed and strength will follow.

Set a 5k pb new year's Day.

my nyd 10k time this year was a personal best, too. it's a great way to start another year. cheers!

I got a mild shin splint the other day, so I'm going to mix walking with biking at the gym. I'm already doing strength training, so I'll work on my shins as well. I have one leg that's weaker than the other, and it was that leg giving me trouble.
 
Planning to do a charity marathon this year for the McCourt Foundation in LA. Right now I am counting my steps and trying to do more than 20,000 steps daily. Any advice on how to get back in shape for a marathon? Here the link if anyone is interested.
Too little info, since you're targeting directly a marathon you're likely already done one or at least ran 20-30Ks before. The steps are largely irrelevant when you're training for a marathon. 10000 steps in a 10k tempo are far, far more intensive than 20k steps of a walk.
Also very important is how much time you have. How out of shape are you? Are you overweight? Did you run regularly in the past? Have you maybe switched to lifting etc? Do you have any illnesses? Are you young or older? A marathon is no joke and the stress on your body is insane, the older you are the more hardcore it is. Keep in mind, even marathon champions do 40k runs rarely, they just limit things to multiple runs/day, 30k long runs and the occasional 40, and those dudes are on a calculated diet and sleep for 10 hrs/day sometimes to recover.
 
I landed on my heel weird five fucking years ago and still got phantom pain until this last autumn when I landed on my other heel weirdly and the exact same soreness just upped sticks migrated across.
Shits not real it's all in your head.
 
London marathon.
No details so I can't be narrowed down.
Incredible event, a 26.2 mile party that seemed to be sponsored by the Palestinians given how many flags were out.
I didn't get what I wanted but I am solidly on the way to being how I want to be, that's my marathon reward.
