This is going to end up in two ways:

2) We get a thread on all the ss13/14 adjacent lolcows like NGF, Android Data, PJB, Oranges, MSO and TRD (Total Retard Death) occurs.
This is a huge contributor to the game being in a bad state; because the barrier is so much lower for adding slop the slop-to-substantial PR ratio is really really really really bad. It feels like playing a bethesda game with some random 2 star mod list even on the most vanilla servers.
For all the shit the BYOND devs get for DM being a single threaded i386 application, The lower level engine design decisions are more sound than 14's toolbox for sure. Great example of the language mattering less than the skill of the dev.
Which makes me wonder someone dedicated enough (and with enough money) could bootstrap it to a custom game engine and port the SS13 code over. My mind immediately goes to Factorio for autism and the potential of a supply team's custom built supply line to shoot dispenser cans at shitsec indefinitely, although an SDL2 based engine would probably be more likely.
If I was a (skilled enough) codemonkey in another life I might do it. But I'd also probably get a thread on the farms after going insane dealing with the community and end up running over cia niggers.
