🥝 Community Kiwi Space Station 13 Server (2024 edition) - Space Station 13

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Has anyone had any luck getting SS13 to work on Linux? I honestly just hate fiddling with Wine and I don't like Windows, simple as.
however BYOND will not work with proton (you will always be stuck on a loading screen).
On the rare chance you do get SS13 to actually load up through wine/proton/lutris etc, any item window you open (canisters, consoles, air alarms, pumps etc) will never populate so you're shit out of luck anyway. This is caused by the MSEdge dependency BYOND has (after it was moved to that from IE once it went EOL) that unfortunately cannot be accounted for by using linux at this stage. You have to use a windows VM for it

Bug report: Black people. Clown tried to remove my character's brain, it didn't spawn when he did all the steps right. Then he used a circular saw to amputate my head. Head item didn't spawn either. Have not tested with white subject at this time.
Wiki error report: Guide to surgery lists the steps for organ removal as follows: 1. Incision, 2. Scalpel, 3. Hemostat, 4. Cautery. Between steps 1 and 2, surgeon had to use retractors to open the hole in my skull after using the circular saw. Not sure if this is a bug or a wiki error but latter seems easier to fix so I'm gonna call it that. Could also be a black exclusive issue, have not tested with white subject at this time.

Wiki does fail to mention retractors for skull/chest (although it did mention circular saw) so thats updated, also appears amputations are broken in general I will look into it further its not obbvivous why that broke since I remember it working fairly recently but it isnt nigger specific

Yeah turns out that's my fault. While fixing organ transplants, the tweak I made to place removed organs in the surgeons hand using the put_in_hands proc doesn't seem to fire correctly for organs or limbs when a mob has full hands, so it's despawning them instead of just dumping them on the floor at the surgeons location (in the case of the limbs turns out it doesn't even matter if the surgeon has an empty hand or not, and it still despawns them rip). My deepest apologies frens I am extremely retarded and must not have double checked that during testing. I've got the (thoroughly tested) fix in a branch with a bunch of other small fixes that'll be PRed tomorrow so if/once it's merged it'll be fixed

Unfortunately I don't think Oney or his close associates are the best judge of character (see: Veronicaandjelly and Shadman, who they defended implicitly until he became a crackhead and started shit with them) and animators are workaholics.

Older versions you could get IE to work. If you grab version from edge
Code:
edge://version/
you'll see the chrome version maybe you can force it through a custom chromium compile (or modify the open source parts of edge to work) https://github.com/MicrosoftEdge
It'd be one hell of a project for spaceman.

Ok some comments on my session last night:

I'm not sure if this is something missing or my ignorance, how does robotics get more flashes? I checked the autolathe several times and didn't see it, same with the parts manufacturer in Robotics. I assume they can be made like a grenade but didn't find that in the wiki. I cut into Sec and grabbed a box of flash bangs and made it back to robotics before I figured out I was retarded, then was told there we some in Tech Storage and got one after cutting into it and the secure section. I am assuming I just missed something obvious, but a little bit of hot linking in the robotics or chemistry sections might be helpful.

The other was in construction, glass works differently than wood/steel/plastic. If you click on glass in your hand it places a pane in the world. I eventually figured out with reinforced glass that I could start construction of something else by right clicking and going into drop down menus. I think all construction should mechanically work the same, plus I see some abuse potential to being able to just leave glass pane spam in your wake as you flee, as they aren't secure but can't be pushed.

Sec crates from cargo or Hack the robotics autolathe

I feel like a key component to completing the most basic department contract shouldn't require an illicit(cross department) Cargo order or hacking a device. Higher tier ones, absolutely, but not the basic.

I know it's more money and relatively easier than basic contacts in Hydroponics, but at worst I should only have to ask another department for materials (like say, Chemistry for flash powder to make my own).

I worked on that a bit recently, basically destructively analyze two and then you should have enough tech levels that you can print them at the protolathe now or you can sync to rnd, then sync the robotics fabricators and queue print them there instead

Also the hahayes surgery fixes are pushed to the server

I've never played with the research systems, so I'll have that to play with and learn next time.
