KiwiFlare

The what?
Can someone send proof for the non-EUlets?

They wouldn't have a case because the only common thing in the branding is the word "Flare", which is a common english word that cannot be trademarked. It would be like "Home Depot" trying to trademark the word "Home". Not happening. The legal standard of trademark infringement is branding and packaging that would reasonably cause the consumer to not know which company provided the product.
That's why I specifically mentioned name plus logo. Trademark dilution can be argued from association of a brand with something distasteful[ref] and KF is definitely considered distasteful by the general public

You are probably right. Also Home Depot and Office Depot share the same last word in their name. Even if cloudflare decided to screech over this, there is nothing about the logo or name that is even remotely similar to theirs, other than “flare”.

Canadistan is also getting hit by these tests. That actually might explain why the forums can feel kind of sluggish if we're being lumped in with European servers.
If you're using Shaw they're constantly having issues with their internet. So are other providers.

Reactions: Broken Cuddles
This won't do anything for pure brute force DDoS from a big botnet, but it will probably make it difficult to do the application level attacks that smaller botnets use.
So KiwiFlare may not be the final solution to the DDoS question, but it should retard DDoS attacks by at least 41%?

That's still a great result. Love your work, Null!

In the worst case scenario, Null could change KiwiFlare's name to KiwiWall, or even SneedWall (but keep the existing logo and info link).

The next step: Force DDOSers to mine bitcoin for you.
Wasn't doing that exact thing (less the DDoS) that caused the farms up on a bunch of shitty blacklists? Like those ones that end up on embedded on the starbucks or airport WiFi?

I love the principle, just would worry about the knock-on effects.

Jersh, on behalf of strange women everywhere I would just like to say that your commitment and determination re: making this gay website work is a very attractive quality. Keeping a marriage together is gonna be easy compared to this, considering troons can’t DDoS a wife.

Keep up the good work! Your lovequest is sure to succeed!
My personal theory is Josh has already been successful in his lovequest and he's just not advertising his personal life like a lolcow. I base this on how confidently he said girls swoon over history buffs. He said it with the certainty of someone with direct personal experience.

Any chance we get to see the source code? Fatchan has HAProxy-Protection open-sourced but I get if Null has some secret sauce baked in that he would rather not reveal
Minimally, some kind of outside audit/review would be great, after the setup is battle tested and the bugs worked out. Looks like HAProxy-Protection is MIT licensed, so Josh isn't obligated to do so.

Also, I get the appeal of setting this up as a side business. Particularly after the whole debacle with those DDoS idiots from... Spain? Wherever it was, feels like that might have been the impetus to say, "Fuck it, we'll do it live."

FWIW, maximum fedora-tipping here and hats off to ya, dear leader.
