Kobe Bryant killed in helicopter crash

Kobe Bryant died in a helicoper crash in Calabasas Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has confirmed.

Kobe was traveling with at least 3 other people in his private helicopter when it went down. A fire broke out. Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead. We're told Vanessa Bryant was not among those on board.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

From what I've read, they were taking the helicopter to his daughter's travel team game, there was another player and her parents on board too.

Say what you may about the adults, but two 13 year old girls didn't deserve to have their lives cut like that. I can't even imagine what his wife and remaining daughters are going through right now.

i was going to make this joke but you beat me to it. lol

If this turns out to be a case of CFIT, that may be just what happened. Run into IFR conditions, around mountains, and the pilot's experience works against him in this case. Yes, a novice would definitely turn back, an experienced guy would turn back, the manual says turn back, but this... this is different in his mind.

He's flown this route, he knows this aircraft, he's got a VIP on board... Saying "Sorry Sir, we have to turn around" may be the by-the-book and the "Safety First" answer, but, it's tempting to make an exception, isn't it? Aborting may mean he doesn't get hired for a cushy charter flights anymore, and doesn't get to brag to the other pilots at the bar after hours about buzzing around a retired NBA star. So, in his mind, he says, "I'm sure this is just a temporary patch of fog, 20 seconds and we'll be in the clear.... I'm SURE it's VFR on the other side, and I know where those mountains are, kinda... I mean, I know i'm not directly over one NOW.... or I FEEL like I'm not.... just a bit, I can "cheat" this just a bit and everything will be cool, I'll tell him we can't do that again once we're safely down, but he doesn't have to know the risk right now..... and, what... is that... OH SHI *POW*

That is exactly how CFIT happens with a guy who has so many hours behind a stick you wonder how it could be so.... look at that flight's radar track, it was tracking as if he was shooting for that gap between the mountains and just flat out missed it, right heading, but made the turn in the wrong place....

Now, I have no idea if that's even a shadow of what happened here, but, when the final NTSB report comes out, whenever that is, I wouldn't be surprised if something like this is what the evidence leads them to conclude if weather and mechanical failure are ruled out.

He probably wanted to display a point that no matter what Trump does he's going to be hated? Still pretty stupid of him. He could've just been nice.

I think CFIT will be the cause.
I don’t think it was mechanical.
I wonder if the pilot also had spatial disorientation too.
I read that Kobe had been flying in helicopters for years.
I wonder if he knew what was going on and had get there itis, or if he was thinking the pilot was an idiot.

I read somewhere that he doesn't write all of his twitter, he dictates to someone else to write it out. Whoever he hired must have failed English Composition.

Also, when the NTSB report comes out, and it’s pilot error/CFIT, if Kobe’s wife will sue?
I’m not sure who owned the helicopter.
Was it leased?
I also wonder if the pilot was IFR rated.

they were both drafted by underling graduates of the White House school of PR and press releases. The Presidents May change. But the lifeless drones in the White House offices remains largely the same.

Reminds me when Trump's wife stole from Michelle Obama's speech.

I dunno but the thought of Trump copying Obama’s tweet expressing his condolences makes me laugh way harder than I should.

God, I can't imagine what his wife and family are going through right now. To not only lose your husband, but your child, too? That's agonizing.

And his youngest daughter isn't even eight months old yet. The poor baby girl's gonna grow up never knowing her daddy or her big sister. This is just an absolute tragedy.
