TGWTG Kyle Kallgren / Oancitizen / Brows Held High - Afraid of the Eggnog Ninjas, "Male Feminist" that Abuses Women, 2nd-rate Cinema Snob, Hugh Hefner A-Log, Fat Creepy Incel Cuck

This guy blows my mind, because he's an exact representation of the kind of obnoxious film buff character Brad Jones was parodying with the Cinema Snob, except this guy is 100% for real and instead of being successful he's a third-string Channel Awesome orbiter.
There's a reason for that. Brad Jones doesn't take himself seriously, Kyle does. Brad is a filmmaker that actually makes movies. Kyle is a sperg on the internet who makes himself out to be smarter than he actually is.

Brad is the kind of guy you could hang out with, talk film and have a couple beers while watching some Grade Z exploitation movies. Kyle is the kind of guy that corners you during a party and starts talking art and doesn't allow you to get a word in edgewise until you make your escape.

People like Brad. Nobody likes Kyle. Teach your kids to be like Brad.

Well what he say precisely?
Symbolism no mean thing
They just put there no reason
Me intellectual man
Me can say without a shadow of a doubt
That the theology no no mean no thing
Even if there are really simple arguments in how it may add to the construction of this story
I have a piper

I mean Hideaki Anno himself said the religious symbolism has no real meaning decades ago. This isn't a stunning revelation. It's probably the coldest take you could make besides "Shinji is a pussy and I hate him."

Speaking of which, there's a video concept for Kyle. Should Shinji be considered a hero to male feminists for being anti-toxic masculinity because he never wants to fight, or is he an incel creep? He does jerk off over a comatose girl, which seems like pretty solid evidence he's a feminist to me. Since Kyle has similar experience, he's very qualified to talk about this subject.

Yeah but Kyle is steeped in the hidden meaning of movies and he know better than anybody else including the author.

This is why Kyle is a dipshit. It's one thing to put forth your own ideas and say that your personal headcanon is that such and such a thing means whatever it is you want it to mean. It's completely different to say that you know what the author is actually trying to say then you pull shit out of your ass to support your interpretation.

Pretentious assholes always think they know.

Hideaki Anno also said that Evangelion is up to individual interpretation. Hideaki Anno is not a reliable source because he resents the reputation of Evangelion and its fanbase. Demo D's take is the best response to this. It doesn't need to be a theological masterpiece but without the religious names, it loses a bit as a story.

This is a good point but not in the way you meant. It's more hypocrisy on Kyle's part because he can overanalyze media he does enjoy and say "while they didn't intend blah blah blah looking at this from a cultural perspective or from a different angle could provide this story with more meaning than intended which while not neccesairly improving the quality of the story-telling, it's still a valid artistic merit of this or at least, just interesting and enjoyable to talk about :)" but as soon as it's something he doesn't (on a knee-jerk basis) "UH NO MEANING DEATH OF THE AUTHOR IS NO LONGER A THING THIS IS SHIT YOU MIGHT SAY IT'S SOMETHING BUT YOU'RE READING TOO DEEPLY INTO IT I DON'T LIKE I DON'T LIKE IT I DON'T LIKE IT" which is why a CA-type reviewer for arthouse movies is a terrible idea and is probably going to attract the most petty, intellectually-narrow people on the planet.

I watched BHH back in the day as I am a fan of Harmony Korine and other strange movies that Kyle reviewed.

I am disappointed that he never reviewed Gummo.

Another movie I thought Kyle would have done is "The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things".

I don't think I've seen any "popular" reviewer even mention it.

Come on people! It has one of the Cole twins from Zack and Cody fame getting raped by Marilyn Manson. Instant classic.
