Kling should be a little more concerned about the fact that the most insane elements of society are giving each other permission to murder him.

Andreas Kling upsetting the libs by merely being a human.

Saying a Linux build runs fine on WSL is like saying Heartbound runs on a smart fridge
Why shouldn't it? WSL is Linux. Plus a suite of supporting tools, anyway. I know not this "Heartbound" of which you speak but I'm guessing what you mean is it can be done but wont work well? I was able to compile Ladybird from source in WSL and run it just fine. I posted the screenshots of it on a Windows desktop further up thread.

"Google is killing the web by killing XSLT! DO NOT COMPLY!"

Maybe what we need is a new browser war. Not one of corporation versus corporation—doubly more so when all currently involved parties are allied in their efforts to enclose the Web than in fostering an open and independent one—but one of users versus corporations, a war to take back control of the Web and its tools.

What a great idea! Unfortunately, as this faggot points out, the only Google resistance we have are Firefox forks! Oh, and...

Yes, I am aware that there are other minor independent browser projects, like Dillo and Ladybird, but the former is in no shape of being a serious contender for general use on more sophisticated pages —just see it in action on this site, as always—and the latter is not even in alpha phase, just in case the questionable “no politics” policies—which consistently prove to be weasel words for “we're right-wingers but too chicken to come out as such”—weren't enough to stay away from it.)

You are a retarded faggot who deserves to spend eternity as you spent your life on this earth: Fellating a shit-smeared corporate cock and mumbling incoherently about how yummy it is because at least the cock that fucked your ass didn't belong to a "right winger".

This guy is a Mastodon dweller, which makes his chicken quip incredibly stupid. Try saying more positive things about Ladybird if you're not chicken, @oblomov@sociale.network, and watch the fag friend circle you've cultivated cut you out.

I hoped to have built this again like I did for you all last time and show KiwiFarms running in the latest version, but alas, I hit the sort of build errors that require actually looking through the code and tweaking stuff, so I aborted at that point.

Still, it looks like impressive progress from the presentation. They didn't include this slide but here's their web platform tests versus competing browsers, this month and last month comparison. Fourth place, but not by so very much and a visible leap forward you can see from even just December.

It's awesome that they've reached the point where they're slowly transitioning from getting things working to performance. Also, from watching where they were with CSS, I hadn't realised CSS was getting so out of hand. I mean, look at some of the functionality in it these days!

Also, I share Andreas' pain at visiting one of his sponsor's websites:

(Kidding - I LOL'd)

All in all, looking very groovy. I might take another crack at getting it to build when I have time.

I try and pick a FLOSS project each month to throw some money at, thanks to your posy @Overly Serious, February is Ladybird's turn.

I can't wait for this.

That's awesome to hear. I'm glad I have made a difference in some small way. It's not only a very promising project technologically, but the commitment to a non-political browser is vital.

Debian Trixie compiled the browser in 3 hrs without issue on an old laptop. The engine still has major issues rendering modern website bloat.
The user agent came back as Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; x86_64) Ladybird/1.0 Chrome/140.0.0.0 AppleWebKit/537.36 Safari/537.36
I don't want to be pessimistic but I feel like this is one of those Linux projects that stay in alpha/beta for years...

alpha/beta for years...
Thats what they plan for. Alpha this year, Beta next year, full release 2028. This is a completely new web browser, it takes time to iron out issues.

Looks like he’s dropping swift entirely
Dont know why they even tried switching to a different programming language. From everything i've seen its just been "Well we wanted to change for some reason, so we tried everything." Without mentioning why. Seems like it was just a hype thing that died down.

It could've been a sly way to shut up rust enthusiasts, an out of left field response to any "y no rust tho" question that gave an air of actually having considered the question. But since he's been declared a hecking nazirino unwholesome chungus (by the same crowd who would pester him about rust), there's no need to keep up the facade. Dude is completely done with that shit.

Or it's just one of many things they tried that didn't really work out. They had that whole new Jakt programming language as well and it's all but forgotten, getting a single busywork commit every couple months. At the start of the standalone browser project they still had some of that "haha let's try different shit" SerenityOS approach, but once money got involved they really mellowed out and got serious. The whole Swift thing might've been an over-eager remnant of that era. They're fine using C++ since they have a bespoke standard library (AK) that's pretty cool and looks like it's Safer

While I don't support the addition of Rust, I can imagine the more obnoxious trannies are not at all happy about this either given the use of AI and Kling's history of advocating wrongthink. In the same way how Null uses Rust, potentially pissing them off too.
