Man these faggots have gone downhill. Used to listen to LPOTL fairly often back in the day. Lost interest around 2018 or so when the SJW creep started to seep in. Didn’t expect Benny boy would be a wife beater while Marcus and fatshit run defense for him.

With girlfriend beating, Ben has fucked them really hard. People would forgive him being a drunk - he has been for years. But if he hit his girlfriend and they keep him involved in any capacity, they're going to have problems. People will be pissed if they continue without Ben. People will be pissed if they continue with Ben, and Ben might be too retarded to keep his mouth shut even if they cover up for him. They don't have many good options here.

They play at being edgy, but they're far too comfortable these days to be genuinely controversial. It's bad for business, especially when they tour doing live shows.
Update on the Ben Kissell scandal; the most recent episode of Last Podcast opened with a pre=recorded bit where Marcus continuing to stonewall fans about what the fuck is going on with Ben and begging their fans to not cyberbully Ben's ex-girlfriend.

Which combined with the fact that most of the major SWJ mafia websites conveniently avoiding mentioning the story or even the cover story of Ben going to a sanitarium, makes me think that Marcus and Henry are burning every fucking favor they've banked toing the SJW line the last decade and a half to bury the story of Ben's disgrace. And are now basically bargaining with Ben's ex to make her STFU and go away and realize that their fans might just burn every fucking thing down on them in a fashion which would make Marcus and Henry's party line anti-Gamergate stance even more hypocritical as fuck.
don't know if you remember when Ben was a Red Eye Regular, but he was as right leaning as you could be as a NYC comedian back in 2013. Him and Kurt were lashing out hard at feminists for their bullshit. Also Fox News doesn't pay their guests unless they get designated a contributor, which isn't really something they do for comedians. And from what i'm seeing its low enough to barely be worth it. 60k for someone with legit political credentials, meaning a funny man on fox business channel was easily making a quarter of that.

Also by all accounts the anti-GG were in the right, GG was anti-nepotism and was basically a trial run for the same tactics the alt-right would use to convince people that hilary and the feminists are ruining society. Its pretty obvious Gamergate was retarded and would be coded as a right wing cause and dismissed. If you're an upstart entertainer and your choices are Ethan Ralph or everyone else in entertainment, who the fuck do you chose?

There's nothing hypocritical about them circling the wagons especially if they were all about circling the wagons a decade ago. the only thing that might fuck them is if anyone in the media still has a bone to pick over Ben's opinions on Manspreading or Catcalling from a decade ago. But they've done all the right moves the last half decade so it would be rather odd to cancel them for this. As you said the fact this isn't getting any traction whatsoever anywhere online means it might have worked.

Marcus was the Creek&thecave podcast tech guy and depending on how he's kept up his connections could easily find another job doing that, certainly enough true crime and/or comedy podcasts out there. He'd just be taking a massive paycut. This isn't even their first rodeo when it comes to a podcast operating out of the creek and cave that they hosted having to let one of the hosts vanish in order to keep their reputations. Back in 2015 Pat Dixon who was co-host of New York City Crime Report with Marcus and Henry and Ben was accused of abuse by Chrissy Mayr. It didn't work out too well, but outside of deleting the back catalogue on crime report to get away from the association and having to quit his show, the LPOTL avoided getting any sting from that whole chaos and Pat gladly fell down on that sword. Hes now a dishwasher and sometimes a comedian and divorced and miserable. But those three were able to thrive once separated from him.

I think it's too early to call them safe. At least one of the reddits is tracking new allegations of Ben being creepy and inappropriate. Nothing as major as the girlfriend allegations, but enough that it could get worse showing a pattern of behavior. They'll be okay if it just stays reddit gossip, but if it gets out to the wider normie audience, they'll have problems. Women are still the big consumers for true crime, and Ben isn't attractive or talented enough to get a pass - he's been pretty worthless on the show for years.

Odds are they're having lawyers figure out how they can have him leave the business for "mental health" reasons, before things get worse. Once you start seeing people turning on Marcus and Henry for "culpability", that's when the mob is starting to light their torches.

replaced by Patton Oswald for the foreseeable future.
genuinely amazed he could drink enough booze to get drunk at his weight. also what a fun coincidence that he's replaced by a guy needing a job right when we're in the worst part of the hollywood strikes.
Patton was on an episode of What We Do in the Shadows recently as well. It was a odd choice since all the humor around his cameo was just "Look! It's an identifiable celebrity!"

Patton's not replacing him (thank God); some dude called Ed from on one of the spin-offs on the Last Podcast Network is replacing him.
The Brighter Side sucked. This doesn't bode well for them.

not to say they were cooler a decade ago, but you can really tell they went from moderates to lefty fags hard, especially ben.
[...]
its hilarious hearing those old episodes because they are a full 180 from their current social media. it sounded like a show Mike & Sven would produce vs what LPOTL sounds like.
I tapered off listened when they started making more and more "safe funny" jokes over time, then stopped entirely until I heard about all this.

Edgy lefties that become faggots pushing current thing that also happen to be women beating "nice guys".

Many such cases.

1. Patton does cameos like that for fun, since by all accounts he horded every single dime he made on King of Queens (a really shitty sitcom Patton was a cast member on in the early 00s) and as such, has a huge nest egg that basically has him set for life and allows him to basically pick and chose the roles he does and do cameos like the WWDITS for free for the fun of it.

2. I've never listened to The Brighter Side; Ed Larson for me at least, is bland and non-offensive at worst. He lacks Ben's tard wrangler who is just as fucked up as Henry and Marcus but acts above it vibe.

3. Also, I should note that Ben always had creepy incel vibes to him. His tirade about how unfair it was that he couldn't get a prom date yet closet queen Jeffrey Dahmer not only had a prom date but ditched her to go get fast food midway through the prom and still having her wait for Jeffrey to come back to her, was one of the first things that came to mind when the news broke and I cast my mind backwards towards clues to Ben's true nature being out in plain sight beforehand.

While i agree, LPOTL is from the old days of podcasting pre-serial and My Favorite Murder when it was a creepy comedy podcast essentially. Once they moved past reading creepypastas and short episodes about reincarnation his comic relief status wasn't as needed.

Again, back in 2013 when him and Kurt Metzger were on the "anti-feminist" crusade it was really fucking obvious he hated women or was at least more willing to lash out at them than your average dude, which for a near 7 foot tall man is pretty scary. The Dahmer stuff was a lot more interesting considering Ben grew up in the same area and knew some of the fags that remember Jeff pre-infamy. Turns out Jeff was a desperate barfly loser, and everyone stayed as far away from him as possible,. He was the type of guy that bartenders write notes and give to you when he buys you a drink or starts flirting with you. which is another big reason he would prey on the new gays (AKA teens)

As for prom dates, Jeff's a flaming fag and a drunk. That would make women a lot more likely to "date" him just so they aren't harrassed for being a "boyfriend free girl". My funniest fact about Jeff is him managing to get the equivalent of a $35/hr job just from walking into the factory drunk and asking for one, with no CV in hand and being a flamer in the small town of Milwakuee. Thats the world boomers grew up in you could literally be coded as a drug addicted pedo and have no qualifications and still snag a job that makes you more money than a assistant store manager at costco. Thats literally how good shit was back in the 1980s.

Ben's comments on Dahmer are way less incel than his comments on Ted Bundy's victims anyway - he had that whole thing about how they were women that "rejected guys like us" and so they deserved it. If that's not right out of the "Evil Stacys rejecting Nice Guys" script, I don'tknow what is.

It does make me a bit sad, since LPotL was one of the first podcasts I really got into for passing my work days nine or so years ago. I still love their multi episode Heavy Hitters and cult episodes- pretty good even for re-listening. I think the last series I genuinely enjoyed was L Ron Hubbard, though. They have done so many meh, or "relaxed" subjects over the last couple years that I got out of the habit of listening. And all the Side Stories just felt like low effort spam. Oh well. Most things can't maintain peak quality long-term.

As an aside, is My Favorite Murder still around? That was seriously one of the worst true crime podcasts I've ever heard. I am baffled how listening to those women read Wikipedia summaries badly became so wildly popular.

Henry not Ben was the comic relief (they even admit to it on several occasions). They just lucked out that Henry was into the same shit that Ben and Marcus was into, was willing to do deep dive research, plus was knowledgeable about UFOs and monsters. So rather than having Henry be the audience POV member who asks questions/clarification on things and doing dramatic readings for them, Ben did the audience POV stuff and act as Marcus and Henry's tard wrangler.

Also, I am kind of shocked that they haven't redone their Bundy and BTK episodes. Both are super short, both gloss over a LOT of stuff (especially the Bundy series), and would go over well with listeners way more than freaking Oppenheimer or Richard "Literal Who" Chase.

Guess Ed tested well enough with audiences that they made him their new tall guy full time.

Don't know why, but would think they would take it as a chance to retire the shows he's apart of. Not like true crime is the hottest trend anymore. Then again LPOTL is probably their big show that brings in the numbers to support the rest of the network. Still always feels a bit scummy to me to kick and replace a founding member of an organization.

Did he actually hit her? I thought he just yelled at her.

I have to think one of two things:

1. The split was agreed upon when the show's fans kept going after Ben's ex and Ben will probably get a decent size payday to go away for good and probably has a deal in place where he'll probably get to relaunch Abe Lincoln's Top Hat at the very least, once he gets his shit together someplace else along with any other show that Ben is a part of in exchange for ceding Henry and Marcus ownership of LPOTL.

2. The firing is a formality to bury the story, since it wasn't going away and there is a gentlemen's agreement that Ben will be brought back in a year or two when he gets sober and they can come up with a proper scenario for Ben to come back without any backlash. In this case, he got fired and his shows canceled but he still has an ownership stake in LPN/LPOTL and be formally brought back when everyone forgets about the accusations.

Either way, I have to wonder the over/under of Ben ending up on Gutfields' Show and if he'll finally shave off that rubbish beard and get a freaking haircut. Also, how long it will take for Marcus/Henry to

1. Get a new promo artwork pic for the podcast (which is already visually outdated)
2. Purge the online store of all things Ben related merch-wise
3. Rerecord all of Ben's commerical promos that play in the podcast (and if Marcus will do some of them)

Also, whether or not they'll further piss off their fanbase by pulling a delete everything. Especially since they've already unpersoned the first 35 episodes of the podcast.

Genuinely would not be surprised if they did this. I stopped listening to the main LPOTL a few years ago, whatever magic they used to have is long gone. I did continue listening to Side Stories for a bit longer but eh.

Reading about what happened, I'm surprised Marcus and Henry aren't getting more blowback since they apparently knew about the allegations and still kept him on. I honestly would be inclined to believe that Ben is guilty just because...he's Ben. Last time I listened to them, his only contribution was to be the retarded audience stand in or pretending to badly read creepypasta. (Which admittedly got a laugh out of me sometimes.)

This whole thing is dissapointing because I really enjoyed listening to them and seeing the whole thing go down the drain is just sad. I can't stand most of the other showrunners on LPOTL and the guys' attempts to shoehorn their annoying GFs into the various shows got old quick.

Doesn't sound like he hit her, but according to her, he was physical and held her down while screaming at her. If true, I don't blame her for being scared - the guy is fucking huge, and she would only get away when he let her.

As I mentioned before, Marcus and Henry are probably burning every favor they've banked in the past 13 years to basically bury the story and as I said, I would not be shocked if they told Ben point blank "Our idiot fans are making shit worse, we need to fake fire you while you are in rehab and let shit blow over while we plan a PR strategy to bring you back. You'll still get paid and keep ownership stakes in everything.....".

Is it wrong to say good riddance? I never particularly liked Kissels presence on the podcast since his role always seemed to derail topics with mostly nonsense oneliners or 90's references that most people didn't care about. Plus his decline in engagement was super obvious and by the 400 episodes he was pretty much a non-participant in most series outside of being the village idiot. Even reading the book Kissels contributions are minimal and worth skipping in order to read the actual content that Marcus and Henry provide.

While stuff like that isn't great and I do agree he needs help for his drinking, people are acting like he hit this girl or worse. Also her being an OF thot really puts things into perspective.

I'll never get over the fact that they've done tens of episodes on horrible government conspiracies/conduct, but then turn around and say vote blue no matter who because Trump is evil for shaking up and trying to harm our pure government institutions. They'll entertain any conspiracy until it starts cutting against their political side—then they become party men.

They gave up actually being edgy a long time ago, and now they have to bow down to progressive outrage like a trained dog. Sad!

Listening to the latest episode and it just has a short bit at the beginning from Marcus saying that they know things are weird at the moment but the show is going to continue.

The episode itself is pretty much business as usual and Eddie is slotting into Kissels "big dumb goof" role.
