Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

D

Don't expect towns and cities but I agree on the rest. I can't imagine the game getting universal acclaim though, unlike the first. The reused world, even with changes and additions, will annoy many people and too many are already sharpening their axes.

Bottom line is game has been in development for 5 years so if there isn't any sweeping changes people won't be very happy. Beings how they have been very shy with showing extensive gameplay up until now people have good reason to sharpen their axes. Also don't forget they want 70 dollars for a game thats a gen or so behind.

I booted up BotW for the first time since 2017 recently and am having fun fucking around, finding koroks and using a guide to complete those last few shrine quests and while I do love the game it also definitely has flaws I had forgotten/overlooked. Fuuuuuuuuck damage sponge white enemies, for example, and being unable to rearrange inventory items is maddening. Also, wow, its ugly in tv mode vs handheld mode.

Still a great game though, even if it needed a final third to its plot.

I only have a switch lite and last time I played it was on it, but I do remember the wii u version being pretty blurry

I posted it on page 42

I'm seeing some Twilight Princess references... if we can transform into Wolf Link that would be neat.
The ReDeads look scary as fuck. There's some characters I don't recognize, some that look dramatically different
those floating islands look like dungeon crawls so yay
air pirate ships. AIR PIRATE SHIPS
mimic treasure chests
seems mushroom hats are the latrest fashion
musical munchkin
what looks like toon link from Link's Awakening?

with the twilight princess references It'd be neat if they brought back the canine curse. Maybe even shatter it into multiple curses with different abilities. Like a rottweiler cure for high attack, a sheepdog or something for high defense, bloodhound for sniffing out items, and pug to let you walk past enemies because you're too cute to attack.

I'm going to pull out my Hyrule Historia and see what references i can find

With only one month to go until its official release, Nintendo has announced that the final pre-launch trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be heading our way tomorrow (13th April 2023).
The trailer will be livestreamed on the official Nintendo YouTube channel for all regions at 15:00 BST / 16:00 CEST / 07:00 PT and will be roughly three minutes in length.

IS this the trailer that will spill out the story beans? Or dungeons?
I'd suspect so, this seems to be the last one before the launch next month, so last chance to do a major launch reveal.

Unless Nintendo is so confident in the Zelda reputation that they are fine with letting players discover all the secrets when they start playing. Which i admit would be fun.

We've got several years to wait for another shot at a proper Zelda with dungeons if not, so I hope so... I at least think it won't take as long to get another Zelda this time. They'll probably want one for a Switch 2 launch.
Lol. remember before Covid when they wanted to publish something Zelda-related every year?

Can't wait for this 3 minute trailer to be mostly boring cinematic.
As much as I want it to be kino. They probably aren't going to show anything at all. A lot of hopium about old school dungeons but nothing they showed has indicated that. I don't know we are a month from launch and Nintendo really hasn't shown anything at all. It really doesn't make any sense. It definitely isn't helping sell the game. I hope I eat crow but we will have to see,.

People are coping about them "not wanting to spoil the game" but all I see is Nintendo trying to hide the fact that this won't have any of the fan requested features people wanted.

"Ganon, it's an animal, Ganon, you can't!"
"Link, there's no laws against the Pokemon, Link!"

I watched the trailer and there isn't anything that really outright confirms dungeons. Looks like there are unique bosses again though, there were some motifs from Twilight Princess in the music, and the voice acting is still the utter worst. The music just turned into generic 'le epic' hollywood with the blown out drums and those string builds. Seems like thats the perfect market to appeal to for them now based on these comments:

Idk I'm just not that interested, I know those Twilight Princess references are just that, references. The voice acting is putting me off from it too, seems like I'll end up playing the game in Russian again or something (even Russian is so much better than English, I don't know why they are incapable of hiring good actors, or if its all Treehouse to blame). All that I'm seeing from this trailer is that there is more to do in the game, stuff that should have been in BotW. I don't see anything explicitly a dungeon because every structure is made of the same worn yellowed stone, which I already kinda pointed out would be an issue when I posted about the art book. They replaced the shieka blue + dark reflective with yellowed stone + green.
