They pulled it off with Majora's Mask. I'd love to see them do it again with Tears of the Kingdom.usually the sequel to a good game is never as good as the original game
That and more monster variety than just Bokoblins, Moblins and Lizalfos spammed everywhere (chuchu, keese and the others barely carry as much of a presence when compared to how much those three are spammed) and it feels like those three are the only ones that have any real influence on the overworld. Red lizalfos even take the place of River Zora despite that they could've added them alongside Zoras like in the Oracle games, and the Gerudo Desert only really has the Moldugas as its only unique monsters, not even any of those cool one-eyed scorpion monsters from past games, and it would've been a good chance to use and expand on those mysterious sandmen/geldmen from A Link to the Past and Between Worlds.I need more towns and npc characters
Going by the trailers, all I see is the Talus with scaffolding attached to it by Bokoblins and another, larger rock monster. Personally, I want to see an new version of the Darknut, since the ones in TP are an glorified game of chicken. So far ToK seems to be adding some much needed variety (I hope the majority isn't just construct variants and redeads). Hope they include more beloved enemies, and give some more classic forgotten ones the Lynel treatment.
do you want them to be like the Darknuts in windwaker, ALBW and Spirit Tracks but with better combat and no super obvious weak spot?Going by the trailers, all I see is the Talus with scaffolding attached to it by Bokoblins and another, larger rock monster. Funnily enough, it reminds me of the pre-botw era. Specially with Horizon coming out right before it. There was a lot of similar discussion bar the "it's just dlc" thing.People seem pretty divided about botw 2. A little worrying but we'll see. They had 5 years to make this game.
Yeah. At least the ones in WW were more aggressivedo you want them to be like the Darknuts in windwaker, ALBW and Spirit Tracks but with better combat and no super obvious weak spot?
Maybe not as much recently but sequels to good games in general tended to be better. I can't think of many games in the 90's that had worse sequels. Street Fighter, Mega Man, Final Fantasy, Sonic, Mario, Resident Evil, etc had decent starts but got way better.usually the sequel to a good game is never as good as the original game

There is also a three headed dragon seen on the Lake Hylia bridge in one of the trailers, and the fat bokoblin leader, but that seems to be it. Hopefully there more than that I want to see Darknuts too.Hope they include more beloved enemies, and give some more classic forgotten ones the Lynel treatment.
That is astoundingly untrue, especially in Zelda's case. I know nesfags are the boomers of vidya but I'll keep my diagonal slashes and dungeons that don't look like 9,001 lumen crayon scribbles than you very much.usually the sequel to a good game is never as good as the original game
In all fairness, what he said is mostly true for movies and it kind of happens with vidya. Just not with Zelda, for some reasonThat is astoundingly untrue, especially in Zelda's case. Last of Us comes to mind. Admittedly I'm not coming up with more examples while I'm on the potThat is astoundingly untrue, especially in Zelda's case. Don't forget shit like nu-Tomb Raider or nu-God of WarLast of Us comes to mind. Admittedly I'm not coming up with more examples while I'm on the pot
I figure game sequels tend to be better because the engine and many assets are already developed, and they already made one of that game, so they can iron out the kinks and implement more elaborate stuff for the sequel. Movie sequels don't just get to reuse assets and engines, and they're generally not made because there's another story to tell in this universe; they're made to make more cash.In all fairness, what he said is mostly true for movies and it kind of happens with vidya. Darknuts are honestly some of the best enemies and minibosses in the series. Having to go another game without them and so many other cool monsters like these would be a travesty.Yeah. At least the ones in WW were more aggressive
I don't give a damn about the woke of us or any other normalfag vidya, I'm talking about real games. Sequels are almost always better than the first entry, its a fact of the industry.Last of Us comes to mind. Admittedly I'm not coming up with more examples while I'm on the pot
Don't expect towns and cities but I agree on the rest. I can't imagine the game getting universal acclaim though, unlike the first. The reused world, even with changes and additions, will annoy many people and too many are already sharpening their axes.mostly there's ultimately a lot of uncertainty. usually the sequel to a good game is never as good as the original game, but the Zelda developer usually does a good job. i suspect that there's a lot that they are not showing in order to not ruin surprises, but since this is based on the BOTW map and assets they can show us a lot that was in the previous game.
I don't believe it's possible for them to fuck this up. BOTW's development was heavily focused on building the entire world and a brand new game engine. Now that they have that largely nailed down, they can focus on adding the things they wanted to have in BOTW but just didn't have time for. I expect the game engine and graphics to be slightly but noticeable improved, I expect there to be proper dungeons, i expect there to be towns and cities bustling with activity, i expect there will be side stories full of charm and heartbreak. This game will squeeze out every ounce of power the Switch didn't even know it had, and give them an idea of what the next Nintendo console needs to be capable of.
Journos will still consoom it for ad money. Autists will still bitch about the lore and compare it to Warriors. Normies will still buy it. Most critics will give it at least an "8."Don't expect towns and cities but I agree on the rest. I can't imagine the game getting universal acclaim though, unlike the first. The reused world, even with changes and additions, will annoy many people and too many are already sharpening their axes.
