Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

What do you guys think about Tears of The Kingdom? I'm in the process of modding my semi broken Switch so I can emulate it.
I considered emulating it, but its going to leak early and the emulators won't work with it for a little while. So I'm just going to play it on my Switch, probably overclock it a bit. If you need any help with modding you Switch just ask me. I've had mine modded ever since CFW became a thing for it early/mid 2018

I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm hoping all those empty building foundations we saw in the gameplay preview are some sort of village-building feature that lets us actually restore Hyrule so as to give the player more incentive to explore the map again.

Got a good guide?

Yeah I think the fact that the overworld is exactly the same as BOTW is suspicious. Lets get one thing straight. Nintendo is a lot of things but they aren't stupid when it comes to how they position and take care of their IPs. Zelda is second only to Mario and they aren't going to hype up the next mainline Zelda game for years and years and drop a glorified BOTW ROM hack on us.

I am putting my cards down on a dark world/alternate realm that is slowly revealed as you play the game either through discovering portals (tears if you will) or by completing tasks in normal hyrule you will restore areas of the map to an alternate setting/timeline. Perhaps completing tasks on the sky islands change things below.

Here is some analysis that I thought was interesting. Watch them in the order I've posted them for the best effect:

I think this comment in the third video makes a very good point:

There is definitely more than meets the eye here. By all means still speculate and shitpost, as tradition dictates; but I think we're going to be in for a nice surprise in a few weeks. We just don't have enough information, which I guess may come as a surprise to a lot of people. Not necessarily everyone here seeing as a lot of you seem to be a bit older than your average bear. But I am pretty happy that Nintendo are back to their secretive ways. I love going into games cold.
I'm really worried that this guy is going to be right. Zelda will be playable, with half the powerset, and switching between the two will be a huge PITA. Man, that would really suck. Still hyped for the game but don't think it will surpass BotW. I mean, the world is always half the fun in these games, and we are just getting a changed version of one instead of an all new one...

As long as the role of Preston Garvey is filled in by Groose and they let me smash his face with a tree branch, then I'm okay with it.

I think its more likely that the "dark world" might just be the underground areas.

I really hope they at least bother to add more NPCs and towns this time around to make the world feel less dead and just say that a bunch of new arrivals showed up from neighboring countries or islands to explain the growth despite the whole sky island problem. Maybe add some more reincarnations-descendants of past NPCs that aren't just Beedle.

The majority of Zelda games have been set in Hyrule, which has largely had things in the same places every time. I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to experiment with keeping the exact same map and seeing how much they can change it to make a different game.

A few people have found that BOTW referenced places that had roughly similar locations in older games set in Hyrule, and the 2.5d Zelda games had significant overlap with similar areas in roughly the same spots. It seems plausible to assume that Nintendo is at least exploring the possibility of having the BOTW map be considered the true hyrule map, accounting for things changing over the years of the timeline.

I think this is specifically what they got Monolith Soft to work on. Their work was focused on field design. I think Nintendo wanted them because of the consistency in Xenoblade 1's world layout, and the gameplay flow of Xenoblade X's world. This seems similar to what they did with Xenoblade 3, they essentially merged the worlds of XC1 and XC2, and everything lines up pretty much perfectly.

Is there a way to easily hack a Switch yet or do you still need old models and a special chip?

Windwaker one would smell like men and sea salt
I'm afraid to ask your reasoning.

Its easy to hack an unpatched unit, since thats how the exploit even functions. But any patched unit and Lite/OLED requires the mod chip. Nintendo cracked down hard after the 3ds/wii u and didn't even bother putting a web browser in, so there is no exploit other than the Tegra RCM with unpatched models

She's surrounded by her harem of sweaty pirate men to be fair
