Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

I'm really starting to wonder if this actually was intentionally held back a year or two for a potential Switch successor, only for them to change their mind.

Like...this fucking took longer to develop than the original BotW? Something doesn't add up here, even with the bullshit Covid excuses. I used to think all that talk of Switch 2/Pro was bullshit but honestly how the fuck did this take 6 years to develop?

Something's obviously wrong. If they didn't hold it back for new hardware then they must have had some troubled development, but of what nature who knows. Something happened behind the scenes, they weren't toiling on this mod for 6 years.

This is not true.
Multiple games have released where the cartridge alone is not enough. LA Noire requires a 14 gig patch before you can start playing, cartridge be damned. Limited Run released Cosmic Star Heroine which also requires a patch before you can even bother to play. This is especially stupid since it goes against the whole idea of preserving games which they say is their mission statement, when it's actually just market scarcity and scalping.
I meant first party nintendo games, you listed 3rd party, and even 2nd party titles. Again I could be wrong, but for the most part, first party titles haven't really had day 1 patches. And yes limited run is retard company

Nintendo has not been the same since Iwata died. They were always a big, ruthless corporation, but the design side was always driven by what these weird Japanese industrial artists and designers wanted to do because that's what Iwata was, and Yamauchi before him was an extremely eccentric old man. It's kind of like how Apple design was driven by Steve Jobs' personal tastes and philosophies, for better or worse, until he died. Since Iwata died, people whose backgrounds are in things like banking and accounting have been in charge. I've pointed out before that this transition seemed to mark a turning point in their business model from the outside looking in. I don't think the same design philosophy they had from the 1980s to the late 2010s is in play over at Nintendo. The idea of releasing a new Zelda without an entirely new map would have been unthinkable in the old days. Somewhere around half the first party output on Switch is remakes from Wii, WiiU or other older systems that they're milking instead of developing new titles. Don't get me wrong, that's their prerogative, but it's my prerogative not to buy it.

I liked BotW for what it was as a chill adventure, crafting game to drink beers to, but I have to agree that most of the game is pretty forgettable outside of a few notable moments like finding the master sword, buying a house, killing my first lynel, Prince Sidon being a bro, or building up Tarrey Town from scratch. I’ll probably enjoy the sequel too since it seems to add enough new content to keep it fresh. I hope they put master mode in the base game this time since having to actually retreat from powerful enemies sometimes was the only time combat really engaged me outside of bosses.

Not there, neither is the map tracker thing. It's probably going to be paid DLC again (on top of 70 dollars for the game). I've just decided to not do any shrines (I hated them in botw) so my health it only upgraded when I complete a 'dungeon'. So I get 1 shot by everything, just like master mode.

I’d be surprised if they removed the item tracker completely given how essential it was for saving time. More than likely, all of the footage just doesn’t show it because you have to unlock it later in the game like before, and there just wasn’t any reason to show it. Then again they removed a lot of good features in Pokémon over the years so who knows.

I listed Luigi's Mansion. That one is directly from Nintendo.

That's funny, seems like the emulator already has better performance than a Switch, if your computer is good enough.
You have to have a pretty damn good cpu to do this. That will change as time goes on and the respective emulators get their updates, but for now, it's out of the reach of your ordinary user.

I meant the thing that shows you where you've been on the map, item tracker is still there.

Xenoblade 3 might actually be the answer here.
See, for botw 1 the zelda team requested the assistance of monolith soft.
This resulted in them losing over 80% of their staff and a lot of content for that game ended up getting cut.
Seeing as how monolith has started to become the new hal/old rare and are being allowed to do their own shit with 0 interferance, i wouldn't be surprised if they told aonuma and the zelda tards to fuck off and that they would help them with the sequel after they finish developing xenoblade 3

This begs the question why not develop a classic/standard Zelda game in the meantime, then?

Monolith mostly did support development in the open world engine, and then a lot of the open world level design. Considering those are a few things mostly unchanged I don't see how Monolith could really affect them, especially considering they opened a brand new support studio after Xenoblade 2 because of the aforementioned issues.

Monolith did a ton of support development on Skyward Sword as well, in the art department.

I thought Nintendo consolidated their console/division when it came to development. I know that the switch's games may be more resource consuming but with the influx of ports and rushed new releases you'd at least think they be pumping out more or is it just them being conservative and safe? I haven't touched my switch in awhile and just remember the 1ibrary being rather small like 4 years in especially after being a Wii U owner.

On my ARM Mac on Ryuujinx it gets better FPS than my switch. Pretty sure my five year old Ryzen box handles it at a better than switch performance level as well. So IDK about this while "needs a good CPU" meme.

Weird. My 5600X only gets like 20-25fps. I guess Ryujinx just sucks on Linux.
