Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

I would like to remind everyone that BotW had performance issues at launch on Switch as well, there was no day 1 patch.
You mean the Wii u era when nintendo treated the internet as funneh delivery service for virtual console games and occasional dlc? Nah, different times.
The denuvo thing was just denuvo talking out their ass, and it wasn't any partnership with nintendo for anything
Bingo on this one. Denuvo hasn't had any integration with console games yet. What they were talking about was basically a pitch to try and get game companies like nintendo to bite so they can make deals. Also a shit ton of speculation and rumormongering from niggerfaggots like kotaku and polygon.

Denuvo recently changed to a subscription service so companies are dropping it sooner on their games than they used to. The most recent being square enix dropping it from Star Ocean and Diofield Chronicles. Kinda funny seeing game companies get hit with the subscription model like we have been.

Regardless of your opinion on the game, the fact is that its going to launch with performance issues
This is true. It just will. The switch is an underpowered console. That's all there is to it. That doesn't mean all the performance issues are the fault of the switch. Pokemon S/V showed that some companies just don't give a shit.
I don't think there will be a day 1 patch, I don't recall any first party Nintendo games getting day 1 patches.
There will be almost certainly be a day 1 patch, and several first party Nintendo games have gotten day 1 patches. Pokemon S/V got one, Arceus got one, Dread got one, Luigi's mansion got one, and Xenoblade 3 got one. That's just what I can think of off the top of my head. ToTK's patch won't fix some of if any of the performance though. They're squeezing blood from a turnip with this thing.

You have to remember that Nintendo includes the complete games on their carts because not everyone has internet access, the game has to be fully playable from the cartridge without patches,
This is not true.
Multiple games have released where the cartridge alone is not enough. LA Noire requires a 14 gig patch before you can start playing, cartridge be damned. Limited Run released Cosmic Star Heroine which also requires a patch before you can even bother to play. This is especially stupid since it goes against the whole idea of preserving games which they say is their mission statement, when it's actually just market scarcity and scalping.

Other games are severely gimped without the patch such as Mortal Kombat 11 which gives you access to offline cpu fights and a whole lotta nothing without that sweet sweet 22 gig patch that gives access to online, the Krypt, and more.

In summary, I can pretty much guarantee you there will be a day one patch, and I can also guarantee it won't solve all the problems with performance. It probably won't solve even half.

...you do realize that the game does not actually come out for 10 days, right? And the people looking forward to it likely plan to pay money for a licensed copy, instead of hunting down an illegal game image and modding their Switch or futzing with an emulator?

Come to think of it, it's rather odd that people that profess to haying the game will jump through literally hoops to be one of the first people to play it, instead of just eventually picking up a used cartridge for cheap to try it out.

Really, it just affirms my presumptions that if you were looking for a brand new completely different and revolutionary Zelda game, or if you were hoping for a game that is not BOTW if you disliked that game, you won't find it with TOTK.
I don't know about others but despite not even liking BotW I thought it had potential, it could've built the groundwork for a new open world direction for 3D Zeldas.

All I wanted from TotK was an entirely new world instead of a remixed one, the return of traditional dungeons, and removal/refinement of the bad shit that didn't work (weapon durability, better incentives to explore, etc).

I think it's disingenuous to frame it like people are only disappointed because they wanted something "revolutionary". Speaking for myself, I just wanted something NEW, you know, like usual when you get a...new Zelda game.

And that has what to do with what I said? Was that an attempted refutation or something...?

Maybe that was the wrong way for me to word my statement.

At the very least, I do see refinement on many of BOTW's mechanics, enough new areas and features for me to be excited, expansion on the immersive sim elements of the first game, and in general, a really fun game. But that's just me. If it isn't enough new for you, then that's fine.

That said, it will be a lot easier to enjoy TOTK if you liked BOTW going into it.

From an outsiders perspective it looks like you were mocking people that were criticism people shitting on the game, but you failed to notice that your altered comment didn't account for some pertinent details. Namely a) the people that look forward to the game are waiting to buy it and b) they plan to play it to enjoy it and not to fluff their ePeen on internet arguments with strangers.

I mean it just objectively isn't new though,

To be clear, I'm not trying to convince you to not like it or whatever. I'm just saying, it literally isn't new and maybe that's okay, but let's just be honest about what TotK is. There's new elements but that doesn't make it a new game, that's all. If they released WW2 with the ability to craft your own boat, and sail in the sky/under water of the same remixed map, maybe I'd like it, but it wouldn't be a new game.

No, I was mocking someone who didn't realize the irony of his own post. He--having not even played the game--is sure it can't be bad and accused others who are playing it of confirmation bias.

It doesn't matter how or if he plays the game, that is entirely irrelevant. His own post applies to him more than it does anyone else when you flip it around, that was the point I made.

This whole thing is a copypasta, yeah? I really want to know.
I saw some autist post that on GameFAQs and thought it'd make a good copypasta lol. I'll see if I can find the original post later.

So let me get this straight

Some people say "This doesn't look very good." after seeing a direct, and fanboys say you can't judge a game without playing it, then some play it, and they say you can't judge it without playing it for hours upon hours.

Then when people play it for hours upon hours, the question becomes why they even play it if they actually hate it so it must actually be good and they do like it are are just trolling?

And the people that don't like TotK are the ones with the cope?

And the idea that you can't trust someone who doesn't like it because they always were going to hate it is retarded logic because on the same principle we can't trust fanboys because they were always going to like it.

At least one of these people have actually played the game...

Hey guys, I found the perfect way to temporarily cure you of your mental retardation

I've seen a few users talking about new NPC having dark skin?
Well I think I can explain it, 5.01% of Nintendo is owned by Saudi Arabia.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ames-push-with-5-nintendo-stake?sref=P6Q0mxvj
https://www.ign.com/articles/nintendo-5-percent-owned-by-saudi-arabia

The country of Saudi Arabia now owns 5.01% of Nintendo as its Public Investment Fund (PIF) continues its chain of investments into video game companies.

As reported by Bloomberg, the country is now Nintendo's fifth largest shareholder, though its investment was only made for investment purposes according to a filing made to Japan's Finance Ministry.

The move is unlikely to have wider effects within Nintendo or its games but will instead be used by Saudi Arabia to learn from Nintendo's gaming pedigree, an industry analyst said.

Hideki Yasuda of Toyo Securities told Bloomberg: "Saudi Arabia has been beefing up efforts to create its own content industry, and this series of investments in Japanese game companies is likely a way for them to learn from Japan."

The immersive sim mechanics were one of the main reasons why I loved BOTW (Deus Ex is a masterpiece btw), so this is very exciting for me to hear.
"Immersive sim" is a bullshit genre designation but I agree that wandering around and exploring was so much fun. Just doing a trip from one town to another at a easy pace was extremely rewarding.

I can't wait to get back to that and to see how the world has changed and what new random happening occur while I meander from A to B.

Bro take a break. Sheesh!

I've been playing it on the Emulator for around 8 to 10h now, my opinion is similar to what other have said here.
It's basically the same game again, it feels like an expansion. They haven't even changed any mechanic in the original, just switched the old Sheika abilities with the new Zonai ones. If you have any issue with BotW, it's most likely back.
Personally I felt that the camera was dog shit, and it is still the same. Flurry-rush works the same way, melee combat is unchanged, ranged combat, the way damage and armor is calculated, horse riding and taming, climbing. It's all identical to BotW. The only differences come from the fuse additions, and that weapons have had their damage values tweaked.

Basically, if you liked BotW and wants more, you will like this game.
If you disliked BotW, there is nothing here that will make you enjoy it.
If you liked BotW, but are burned out of some parts of the game, then you are probably going to feel the same burnout with TotK, which is basically what I'm feeling. I've been avoiding most combat encounters cause I can't stand it anymore, though the exploration is just as fun as the first time in BotW.

Mentioned before but I guess you didn't see because you skimmed. Constant frame drops down to 20fps, taking out the master hand drops frames consistently, one of the boss fights was in the low 20s the entire time, the game freezes when walking around to load stuff in.

I'm using a Switch with zero overclocking, what I'm experiencing is how it will be at launch.
That's funny, seems like the emulator already has better performance than a Switch, if your computer is good enough.
I've been playing on a, mostly, stable 30fps. There are a few audio and texture glitches from time to time, but nothing that hurts the experience. The only actual problem is that the underground is completely broken, the ground texture doesn't load.
I was planning on jail-breaking my Switch, and moving my save, to finish the game there. But knowing that the performance will be worse is really disappointing.
The Switch is really an old piece of shit. Switch 2 can't come soon enough.

I remember that my superior Wii U version of the game ran better than the Switch version.

All these Switch bros enjoying games ten years after they came out. What a story!! :story:
