Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

There's a number of interesting hints in BOTW for the timeline it's in, one being Eventide island. Eventide island is clearly meant to be an abandoned koholint island with no wind fish egg on it, meaning the wind fish never fucking woke up out of the dream that allowed the island to exist and fucking died cause link didn't crash his raft in a fucking storm, which means it's not in the Link's awakening timeline. I don't remember if I brought this up a few years back when i noticed it but yeah that's a weirdly large one, and there's several other hints in the game showing it's not the OG zelda timeline where he usually has the yellow ring on his hat despite his hero clothes having the yellow hat ring in BOTW.

Also yeah the windwaker sailing shit never bothered me even as a kid cause there's literally so much extra shit to explore shoved between the main islands. Didn't feel as empty as people claimed it was. Still remember freaking the fuck out the first time I saw a seahat cause like up till then all I saw were sharks and octorocks and I was just like "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?"

Sailing never bothered me because Wind Waker's ocean theme is the best overworld music. It sounded like the tonal representation of adventure itself.
Fuck off with the NES one, I don't care how "iconic" it is. The only time that song was good was Link's Awakening where the back portion of the loop was interesting, and you had the amazing fanfare when you got your sword back from the beach.

I'm surprised they barely ever use the Link's awakening version of the overworld theme. It adds a complete extra bit onto it that you'd think would stay a staple of the theme like how the King Dedede theme in superstar had an added bit that just became the status quo for reprises of that theme. Weirdly similar case to Link's awakening happened in Four Swords Adventures on gamecube when they added an extra bit to the Guard chase music from Link to the Past that they repurposed as one of the miniboss themes. All youtube uploads just call it "shadow link battle" but i remember it playing for more bosses than just that one.

QUICK EDIT: I FORGOT They also did a windwaker styled remix of the guard chase music for the phantoms in Phantom Hourglass that added an extra bit too but not as extensive as four swords' variant.

I did a Forensic Files on the new trailer:

The title reveal obscures the faces of the two figures in the carving. Mid-way through the trailer we are clearly shown that the figure on the right is the Zelda figure. We are also shown the imp-looking thing with the seven orbs floating around it. It looks a little sinister but that doesn't mean it is evil; especially when you consider that the figure joining hands with Zelda looks almost exactly like the imp figure.

We also get a glimpse of a figure (exactly like Zelda) doubling over with red miasma slowly creeping up from the bottom of the frame and an unknown shape/figure off to the right of the frame. That's your bad guy. Imp thing is probably a good guy but the quick editing and the strange appearance of the imp will lead you to believe it is the bad guy without further analysis.

Therefore I conclude that Link will probably be in this game in some fashion, though that is pure conjecture on my part.

I think I'm skipping it. Skyward Sword sucks and so does its whole aesthetic. The vagueness of everything feels like an attempt to hide that they're just going to retread everything from BotW but in the sky. Give me some substantial gameplay at this point, not more "Zelda Theory" fodder.

Hope I'm wrong but I'm not holding my breath at this point.

So far I'm really lacking confidence in Tears. 7 years and they're still barely showing anything, and slapping 'not final' on everything we do see, which makes me think troubled development. Its either gonna come out and solve all of the First game's problems or be the same shit all over again and disappoint. After seven fucking years it better be the former.

Link, Zelda, and Hyrule Castle are thrown into the sacred realm where Malice is sourced from
Corpse Ganondorf is the knight who helped 10k Zelda seal Ganon 10k years ago
10k Zelda sealed Ganon in his body
She sacrificed her body to do this, specifically her right arm
Ganon and 10k Ganondorf are treated as separate entities
10k Ganondorf treated as tragic antihero
Ganon treated as eldritch ancient evil
Link also loses his right arm
Is replaced/augmented with 10k Zelda's right arm
Replaces Sheikah Slate, which is with Zelda, who is still in Hyrule Castle
10k Zelda's arm makes Master Sword unbreakable
It also replaces runes
You have to power it up gradually
Enemy weapons in Sacred Realm all break like paper, makes combat faster
Enemy weapons are much stronger than Master Sword
There is one town in Sacred Realm
There are three main dungeons that are more like regions of the map
Rivers of Malice like to attack you
Hyrule Castle is final dungeon again
Has been twisted into Ganon's castle
You need to be able to fly to reach it
Btw you can fly eventually
Development name that will not stay is Zelda Tenkei for the 10k pun and because of return of some traditional elements like partially linear progression, story focus, Ganondorf, dungeons, etc

Leaking because I'm dead inside and after hearing about this for months I just want to play it but I am pissed they aren't farther along on it.

The developer is keeping their game close to the vest and not revealing everything before you have a chance to play it. And you cite that as a bad thing. Is this your first wait for a new Zelda game they do it like this every time.

You will get all the info you want next year in March or April and then you can complain and nitpick about everything.

In their defense, the biggest problems were QOL things, like motion controls and text being slow and unskippable. The remaster fixed a lot of this.

Text is still terribly slow quite often and utterly unskippable in the remaster. There's less of it but when there is... the boss fight with the Ginger Gym Bro and his catapult...

Other issue: the sky area around the village isn't nearly interesting enough for how many times you have to cross it.

I think Tears will be good, BotW was amazing and ruined older open-world games for me. Some SS beats must be avoided. For exemple the Loftwings-type creatures that you will almost-inevitably unlock at some point better be nicer to ride than in SS.
But something that was in SS that i wouldn't mind if they took inspiration from in TotK is more creative character design for the pnjs. They could give them a little bit more personality without going as grotesque as in SS. I don't know if they can, they used Mii as a based to lighten the game but as a result they are kind of samey.

Funny, for me it did the inverse. I can excuse most older open world games because they were older. But all open world games that came out after BOTW... look, if I can't climb over some dumb shit to get where I want to go and if I get hung up on an invisible collision barrier hanging off the side of a picket fence, you're fucking done. That last one is true in pretty much every game though, not just open world.

If you can't even put out one solid gameplay trailer seven years in then it means you have massive issues behind the scenes or you're trying to hide something. By this point with the first game they'd dropped a 3 minute trailer that showed some meat of what the game would be like.

No it's not my first Zelda wait, this is just the one I'm most suspicious about.

U think they try to hide that most of the game is still breath of the wild(what everyone already should count on) and that the sky and underground sections are small areas and/or dungeons.

Nahhhh, I just think Nintendo is just holding their cards close to their chest until its closer to release hype time. BOTW was a result of the feed back from Skyward Sword (mainly that it was too linear) so this looks like a revamp of Sky Sword to fix the biggest complained of BOTW (no large dungeons). So I expect the broken/transformed landscape of BOTW with sky/underground dungeons instead of shrines along with skydiving that actually means something.
