Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

They should have called this game The Legend of Zelda: Retarded Bridges because that's what a lot of people will do. I've built a number of wonky ones so far, and it's been funny, if only slightly frustrating. I was building one at night to get a korok across a river to his buddy, and a keese started following me. I got the bridge all lined up, and as I dropped it, the keese flew right under and was crushed. Have to admit that one had me cracking up. I'll probably get more creative with building as I get further into it.

The ascend gimmick is dumb as shit though. The jarring camera yank it does, the swimming cutscene, and the extra input to pull Link out of the ground like he rolled a 7 in Jumanji. I'll go out of my way to avoid using it.

Rememba when that wizard game came out and hit one million viewers on Twitch? The supreme GOTY 10/10 metacritic score masterpiece is struggling to hit 100k right now.

IN the past day I've seen people claim that this is both *nothing* like BotW and so good because it's so much like BotW.

I can't take anyones opinions on this game seriously at this point. It's been hyped up/shit on so much I can't get a straight answer on what the fuck it is or if it's actually fun from anyone.

How long do you think the honeymoon period will last until they start realizing the game isn't that great, and not worth 70 bucks in the slightest? It took me a few months to really see how little there was in Botw, and I've heard the public opinion on that has only just started to sway negative.

Also I was wrong and there was a day 1 patch, I was pretty surprised. Smoothed out perf, doesn't hitch randomly as much anymore but there are still consistent frame drops all over.

I usually couldn't care less about game reviews but I'm interested to see the user reviews this time, metacritic opens at 12pm PST today. Will it mirror the all perfect from the press (minus one 6/10 which said a lot of the things I did, but its still a better game than a 6) or will the people realize its just the same thing?

I'd had the impression from Epoch that getting into the underworld took a long while,
Yeah that was just me being retarded. I thought the hole was just a cave so I ignored it for later, then in Kakariko an NPC talks about gloom and I thought they were unique caves where you had a timer or something. Only after I actually talked to the old dude at the base camp did I go underground.

I've been enjoying the game immensely. Have not played it excessively, only for a couple of hours yesterday and another couple of hours this morning. It is a lot of fun! You should give it a go. The exploration bit are unmatched and improve a lot upon what Breath of the Wild did a few years back. Oh! And the fusion stuff is really nifty. I like being able to augment my arrows on the fly and messing around with weapon options. Have not yet done a ton of building though; but I can say that being able to stitch trees together to climb up cliffs is very useful.

Final verdict: many awooos out of many awooos!

He already finished the game last week.

Read the thread.
I played a bit more after when the patch came out, but the site was down so I couldn't say anything about it. The underground (I've explored like 60-70%) seems to entirely be mining deposits, enemy camps, Yiga camps (you get Yiga vehicle blueprints from them), and hidden chests that give you the DLC armours from Botw, not sure what are new since I ignored a lot of the EX stuff in botw. No shrines and no koroks underground so its really quite barren once you actually light the area up.

I did the Yiga quest to unlock the 'earthquake technique' and its not anything like a TP hidden more, its the shockwave those big Yiga dudes use, and it kinda sucks. You charge your attack with no weapon equipped. Yes the Yiga hole goes to the depths.

I've explored most of the sky give or take a few islands and 2 of the 3 mazes. They all just usually come down to a shrine quest that wants you to do some vehicle thing to complete. There are a new spirit orb thing that seem to only come from the islands, 4 of them to upgrade the attack damage of 1 of the sage companions, not really worth it for how hard they are to find. There are also chests in the sky that give treasure maps that just mark the location of one of the EX armour chests in the depths.

They have gone full collectathon, with a quest to explore every well in the game (the reward is rupees), every cave has one of those big frogs that drop a unique item, but I think its just to track how many you completed because I never found a use for the items. There are a lot of quests that boil down to 'find all of this thing in the world', there is one with cherry trees, wells, specific sky islands that have ancient writing on them. None of these things really get marked when you complete them other than caves, so unless you are using map markers like crazy (which have a limit I think) you will probably lose track.

The house building, which I might have mentioned before or not, is literally assemble your house from room parts using the ultra hand.

Does the game have more quests than BOTW? I really liked the extremely limited city hubs that had quests with writing and an actual goal. Unfortunately, that was about 5% of BOTW while the rest was wandering around solving boring shrine puzzles and exploring a nice world that really didn't have anything except korok seeds and more boring puzzles.

I'm so fucking lost on the story. Once they get to Zelda's send-back through time, my brain melts. Someone dumb it down for me, cuz not I'm thinking there's 2 Zeldas and the timeline shit is just convoluted at this point.

At least we can make cheese now...

I figured that the past-Zelda was not actually Zelda and was Hylia or something. All those Hylians look alike anyway...

Some absolute fucking lunatic called TotK ableist because there's no trigger warning for Link losing his arm, and getting a transplant that he didn't consent to.

Naturally, she is the exact kind of person you'd think she is.

Shit like this makes me happy that all we bitch about here is whether or not a game is $70 DLC or a worthwhile purchase.

These fuckers have completely lost the plot and don't deserve $70 DLC or worthwhile purchases. Let them wallow in their self-imposed misery and decay into nothing.

More quests, there is a new category for 'side adventures' which act like actual quests, and then side quests are the usual give me X item. 30 shrine quests, and I think 60 each of the other two but I'm not in the game to check right now.

The zelda you keep seeing in the present is da evil ganon pretending to be zelda for no reason. Zelda went back in time (somehow) and set up all the zonai stuff to appear (only after she vanished ofc) and arranged with all the sages to help you in the present. It's stupid like any poorly thought out time travel story because if she goes back in time, literally do anything to stop the calamity from happening, but nope
