Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

Unless you weren't paying attention OOT is blatantly meant to be before link to the past.
Downfall Timeline according to the official timeline. The timeline gets a lot of shit but I honestly think it works. I think some of the confusion may also lie in that the localization of A Link to the Past was rather poor, it has a lot more concepts in common with OoT that were scrubbed out of the English release due to "religious references". Anything related to sages, priests, Temples, etc. Also mistranslating "Ocarina" as "Flute"

Of course that could be explained by Hyrule going through an ill fated communist revolution that purged all religious imagery, except the stuff that cannot be destroyed so was renamed or hidden

maintain that April Fool’s scifi Zelda would have been the coolest shit.
It practically already is since Tears introduced THE SECOND hyper advanced pre-history civilization full of advanced alien technology including robots capable of speech and Star Trek tier teleporters, oh, and iPads for the kids.

I honestly wish they'd just pull the trigger on sci-fi Zelda and get it out of their system so the franchise can go back to based sword and sorcery high fantasy.

DLC also added Trials of the Sword which gave Master Sword laser beams and the extra dungeon that gave you a steam punk motorbike.

At this point I think they shouid just fully commit, especially after all the Tears of the Kingdom tech added.

And with the fact that Echoes of Wisdom is a thing, completely upending the formula has been shown to work

I find the whole futuristic thing interesting because the very first game had sci-fi style time travel as a concept early on. Ever since the beginning, Nintendo has had this itch to make the Zelda franchise futuristic but seem too afraid to do so. I admit I don't know how much I'd like a game set in a super future city where things like swords, shields, and bows wouldn't even be used anymore.

Honestly, them going all sci-fi for the next Zelda game I would be extremely excited for.

Just hope that the fanbase wouldn’t through a fit like the Call Of Duty fanbase did when it went all futuristic.

I dunno. I find the futuristic stuff to be kind of silly and the 'ancient advanced forgotten prehistory society' thing is pretty overused and cliche at this point. Like there are a lot of fantasy stories and other video games with that gimmick. It makes Zelda's world feel more generic and meh. What's wrong with a fantasy story just being a fantasy story? Especially because Zelda's setting was somewhat unique compared to other fantasy settings. Why does it need to have all this ancient technology shit added to it? I already wasn't the biggest fan of BotW's open world shit but seeing link riding around on a motorcycle in the newer one was just fucking ridiculously stupid and made me never want to play that game.

Something that i found curious about EoW is that they went back to Din, Nayru and Farone being the makers of the world instead of Hylia's handmaidens, and the triforce being the ultimate goal at the end, contrary to what some Schizos on /v/ said about how Aonuma wanted to phase out the goddesses and the triforce in favor of Hylia, in a "Mario mandate" kind of crack theory.

I kinda dug it, like Zelda if it were an early 2000s animated sci-fi movie. I can see why it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.
It ain't the worst thing. Maybe if it was a adult Link it'd be a little better.

I just hate Navi. Tatl is... Okay.

To be honest the first pic looks alright but I don't like the second one at all.
It looks like cyberpunk Dennis the Menace meets Ghibli. It's a weird blend.

Did I miss something? Since when were the Golden Goddesses Hylia's handmaidens? I thought that they created the world and then left Hylia behind to watch over the Triforce? Maybe I just missed some new lore from BotW/TotK because I didn't like either of them and wasn't paying attention?

In fairness, not counting remakes or whatever, this game is the first time in over a decade that the three goddesses and a physical Triforce have been important. Not easy to assume that it was all being phased out for Hylia and non-Triforce business.

And I think this is the first game the three goddesses have been super important since like, Wind Waker.

To be fair, the goddesses have never really been important outside of lore. Not unless you're counting the Oracles. I think it's just The Wind Waker, Echoes of Wisdom, and maybe a little bit in Twilight Princess?
