Well I'm back again cuz I'm still reading the book and came to some LOL parts.

1. The villain of the story is Jenni Konner the co show runner of GIRLS who essentially got Lena the show. Throughout the novel Lena cannot keep commitments, whether a funeral (there's endless ones), an ailment (all of them suspect), or the fact that she just plain doesn't want to. GIRLS gets canned and Lena is offered minimal new leads because of this, leading Jenni (who supports family of 4) to get rightfully pissed off and end their business partnership/friendship. Cuz duh? And yet somehow Jenni is the one in the wrong.

2. The Jack Antonoff stuff is stellar. He is consistently portrayed at the one in the wrong despite no supporting evidence. Honestly, he sounds like a great partner and Lena FUMBLED. The viral Lorde affair is murky at best and probably Lena's imagination gone amuck rather than an affair. It all culminates with them trying to save their relationship (now at the bottom due to Lena's constant "illnesses" rending her an unemployed eggless homebody) by taking a romantic trip to the Maldives. Lena complains of a painful ailment and visits a doctor then goes to the ER which either involved a biplane or a ferry from their private island. She finds out she is really constipated and has to take an enema to take a big shit. I would have ended it right there if I was Antonoff.

The way the sum total of all of the evidence of the "affair" has always been Lorde and Jack participating in normal work activities is the funniest shit possible to me. It's incredible how Lena's cabal of fat loser woman fans ate that shit up when it was obviously always just her making shit up.

There's a scene in the memoir where Dunham gets her uterus removed, supposedly to cure her debilitating endometriosis. When she gets it done either Jenni or Jack go, "Okay so you're better now?" And she's like, "You don't understand, I will never be better." Like how would you not immediately clock yourself as mentally ill when those words leave your mouth :story:
