Despite having poor eating habits, bowel issues, and being generally lazy,
@The_Knight_Rider has a very regimented lifestyle. This is possibly the biggest difference I discovered between Chris and Shaner. When Chris lived at home and Bob was still alive, Chris had the day-night cycle of someone who worked 2nd or 3rd shift, despite not having a job. Len, however, with his proclivity towards train schedules, has sections of time blocked off for specific activities. This, however, relates only to things that Len enjoys, such as trains, medication, photography, and sockpuppeting. When it came to actual work at Sears (or any other part-time work), he was late quite frequently and worked after his appointed shift to make up the time. Because he was friends with a department manager, Shaner got away with this behavior.
According to Rick, Shaner would "borrow" tools from the storeroom. Instead of buying tools for the store, we could appropriate things from the sales floor and write it off for use in the store. Shaner, being afraid of numbers and work, would scan a tool off the floor and just open it up to use it without having to go and find one already open, thus making the store
eat the cost of whatever he tore open. This would result in Shaner getting yelled at and having to
rewrap the product back into its tattered casing and selling it at discount so we could at least make something on it otherwise it'd have to be junked.
One day, Shaner was extremely late. He told a manager that he had a flat tire. When asked how he got to work, he stated he inflated the tire as much as he could before driving to work. Towards the end of Len's shift,
Rick watched Len take a screwdriver from the floor, scan it and walk out to his car, only to stab the rear passenger side tire. Len came back inside and took the screwdriver with him to the back. Later on we all would learn that this was Len's ploy to get someone to give him a ride home or to get to hang out with us after work. Rick called out Len on his stupid bullshit as Len begged the younger cashiers (teenage girls) for a ride home.
Needless to say, Len ended up calling AAA, waiting for a ride in a darkened parking lot by himself.
