I love the Ridley voice meme and the Metroid Fusion LP (a rare Retsupurae LP where Diabetus was the one playing) tbh. I really wish they'd go back to doing LPs together (and not with annoying guests).

The period a couple years back where they were doing Sonic '06, Afterfall: Insanity and Bloodborne concurrently is what I consider to be their peak. I think the Sonic '06 LP might be my favourite series of theirs.

We haven't had a Retsutalk with both Slowbeef and Diabetus since fucking August 2016.

The 10 year anniversary of Retsupurae is coming up soon, maybe they really should just end it.

I don't entirely agree, but I completely understand where you're coming from. Slowbeef's best LPs have been screenshot (The Immortal, Sprung, Dark Seed), but he has the ability to have decent chemistry with most of his guests, which is a very rare quality for most LPers.

I think slowbeef would shine as a guest in other people's VLPs rather than doing his own. This is partially why Retsupurae worked imo.

Edit: Also since LPs are more or less a business now thanks to PDP (and others, but mostly PDP), SSLPs are deader than dead because there's no way to monetize those views into sweet sweet cash like there is on Youtube and Twitch.

Chip might be a dweeb, but he's a good person. Of all the people in this thread I think Chip is the one you can't really point to and say he's a lolcow in any way other than an unfortunate choice in girlfriend (which, let's be honest, we've all made a bad choice there at some point).

Oh man, that period was great. I equally remember RetsuBlitz as being an amazing month for their content too, some of the videos they uploaded during that time were genuinely really funny. Comparing that to their current stuff, saying that what they upload now is on life support is putting it nicely. I really wish they'd just axe the whole thing, it's sad seeing something you respected wither away and die like this.

Diabeetus is a great fellow and I think it's obvious that he's long gone. His SA account axed, his Twitter all but dead, presence in the videos reduced... He moved on and is doing far more important things in his life now. SB should do the same. There's no way he's making enough money to justify doing this much longer.

never actually knew that bobvids was tortoiseontour. i remember a few years ago when I replied to him on Twitter about some social issue and he proceeded to spam me with like 6 replies before blocking me.

it’s so weird how these 30 something year olds have such fragile egos about people telling them they’re wrong over a computer screen.

Yeah, I never replied to him on twitter but he is just unbearable. His "I'm on the high ground" stance of most things is annoying. And when he's not sperging about how he hates CinemaSins and you should too, he's talking about race relations cause his gf is black.

Retsupurae was best when they made fun of bad LPs. People who placed a camera in front of their TV or answered phone calls during runs. The videos about BillyMC or Cornshaq were mean but they were funny. They could make a fun series of videos just showing off shitty flash games.

That's why it's weird to see Slowbeef and other people in the Retsupurae orbit become such humorless, perpetually-distressed goons. That, and the whole format of shitty camcorder LPs is pretty much dead. There's just no reason for Retsupurae to even exist anymore.

They've run out of good video fodder and long since lost the ability to be funny. Like an old racehorse past its prime, sometimes the best thing you can do is put it out of its misery.

They could always try riffing their own videos, since they're now the type of people they used to make fun of. Slowbeef's Policenauts video with the donation shoutouts every 30 seconds was like one of those bizarre gimmick videos (SNES9X, Sonic 3D) from the old retsupurae days.

Billy MC was probably the one retsupurae I felt bad about (and I've been open about this before), because the kid was actually a pretty nice kid. He took the RP in stride, much moreso than most other people did.

Part of what made me feel bad was the A-logging, but I'd have to say most of it was the fact that he really didn't deserve it. A lot of the other people that RP made fun of were either hilariously terrible at video games/LPs or completely unlikable human beings. Billy was just a kid having fun making videos and putting them on the Internet. Tearing that down was not really the purpose of RP imo.

Edit: Fun trivia fact, slowbeef batted around the idea of doing an RP of PewDiePie for a few months. I'm not sure why he eventually decided against it, but personally I did not want to get involved in the sort of Internet drama shitstorm that would come from saying something negative about PDP. I'm guessing that was probably his reason too.

Yeah I know. That wasn’t from Billy though. The old style vids died after their most recent channel launched.
