If I’m remembering correctly the BillyMC stuff kinda killed the old retsupurae style because so many people a-logged Billy and they felt guilty. After that everything was toned down and they shifted to longplays and kickstarter stuff.

A lot of RP fans would harass bad LPers/makers of bad Flash games in some kind of dumb crusade. BillyMC was a big target, but there was also a girl, Queenie Z or something like that, who was receiving actual death threats for making a bad LP until it came out that, oops, she was literally autistic. Another big issue, people started making purposely bad LPs in the hopes of RP discovering the video, making it hard to tell if a video was genuine or not.

They did make a PewDiePie thing, which is how most of their fans found out Diabetus is actually a hunk and slowbeef is some sort of bloated baby man, since they're in it.

Well hell, I'm just learning all sorts of shit I didn't know.

There was a video of Cherrydoom and a couple of the other female LPers just being downright cruel to QueenieZ for about 30 minutes and it was the funniest thing I have ever seen. I think it’s lost to the sands of time but it might be buried somewhere in Google video archives.

Just spent the last few days watching old RP's, I think the place when it felt weird was when slowbeef streamed to F2P anime ass waifu mmo's on newgrounds. I mean it was kinda funny at first but then he did it again, and again. Like I'm all for laughing at a shitty game that aged poorly, but it's not funny to watch some clickbait ad game. He talked in a recent "dev diary" about being determined to complete the project. He's also mentioned wanting to learn how to use an art program called Aseprite, wanting to know whether there are any VN frameworks for Unity engine and he's said that he's licensed some music to use in the game.
I don't think he's shown any of the actual work he's done, though, but I don't follow him too closely so maybe he has somewhere.

It's pretty much dead. The last vid they uploaded hasn't hit 5k views, which is really bad compared to what they used to get. Their upload schedule has dropped to shit as well (no new vid for 2 weeks and before that there was a 2 month gap). I still remember when they'd post a new vid every other day (or every day, if we were lucky). The Kickstarter stuff was fun and they got good views from those, but the last one they did was 10 months ago. And the games they've gone through don't seem all that interesting. There's also current day Youtube to consider, but I won't get into that. I don't recall who said it here, but it also feels like Diabetus finally stopped giving a fuck about the channel and Slowbeef really can't keep it up without him (god knows the viewers need a chill Southern accent to cancel out Beef's nasally voice). Also, and this might be more conspiratory (or maybe not), but it seems like when Slowbeefs true persona outside of Retsupurae started seeping in to the main channel, people were very put off by that. I don't say this just from personal experience, but what I saw in the comments in later videos they did, especially those on Slowbeef's own channel (those Creativerse vids, jesus and you can see some critisism in the Twitch live vids they have on the main channel).

Admittedly, it's kinda sad since I was a long-time fan and I don't take joy in seeing a channel I loved slowly fade away without even a final vid saying "hey. we've decided to move away from Retsupurae, the years doing this were great bla bla", but whatever.

The latest series on the channel was OverBlood, which started with Slowbeef, Diabetus and Damehasclass (Sara) commentating, but then Diabetus mysteriously left two episodes in with no real explanation as to why (Slowbeef put in the description of episode 3: "Ok, I think winter break is over so it's back to this terrible game with Sara and I while Diabetus continues to fight in a war or something.")

I've no idea what he meant by this. He also said on the Retsupurae twitter that they'd be late if they were going to do something for the ten-year Retsupurae anniversary. The anniversary came and went with no content.
Meanwhile, Slowbeef is streaming and tweeting constantly whilst Diabetus's online activity seems to be pretty much dead (his last tweet was February 4th and the one before that was January 11th, he hasn't uploaded to his Youtube channel in a year, I don't follow his twitch so I'm not sure how active that is but it doesn't look very active going by the latest saved videos which are from last year).

As people have been saying, it seems that Diabetus is the one that isn't interested in Retsupurae.

Diabetus actually guested on one of Slowbeef's streams last year (it's archived on Slowbeef's channel - the Klax stream) and they talked about various things. One of the things that came up is whether making a career out of let's play/streaming is viable; Slowbeef said that he thinks so and Diabetus didn't seem to have any faith or interest in it.

I don't have time at the moment, but I'm going to transcribe the interesting parts of that stream and post it here, eventually, because they also talked about Lowtax being incompetent and him misremembering or lying about shit. That shit is like catnip for a lot of kiwis.
