I'd like to think that if you want to be an "entertainer" in any fashion, be it on the radio, on the television, or the internet, the worst thing you could do is make your political opinions, no matter how inane or controversial, present for the public eye to see because you're at risk for alienating the many people who are potential viewers and disagree with you. Especially if you are more known for your entertainment than your political opinions, and especially especially when you've never incorporated your political opinions into your work before. It also probably helps to not alienate these viewers even further by insulting and demonizing them.

I don't know, it seems like a common sense thing to me, but it's sense that doesn't seem all too common. It's just a bit jarring to remember Voidburger as the girl who would talk about old rock bands and giggle playing horror games versus seeing her now demanding we commit arson because somebody voted republican, sort of like a screeching cat lady yelling at her TV. But once again, that's just me.
