Did beetus ever have to go on an apology tour for dropping the fag-bomb in that ancient double dragon/battletoads video, or did that slip past the thought police? He seems like one of the only ones who hasn't become some stupid twitter goblin.

As dumb as they all got recently, I still enjoy a lot of the old longplays. Darkseed, Deep Fear, Dead to Rights, ect. I think it was Kings Quest V with that obnoxious owl was one of my faves.

If you look at successful Youtubers - you see a fair amount of change between then. Guys like Markiplier, Pewdiepie, even Game Grumps branched out to more varied content than "just video games", and drastically improved content/video quality while SA LPers were still posting screenshot LPs on a paywalled comedy forum.

I'm just pointing out (probably poorly) the hypocrisy Slowbeef had where he'd have rando SA goons on a retsupray calling a kid a fag like a certain Wario Ware vid and then be like "jk just ribbing u bro lets leave him alone, only we can insult the guy" bs. Of course stupid ass weens probably would go after whoever they mocked afterwards. That's true, but isn't that exactly why they transitioned to doing those longplay videos instead of picking apart random LP channels after a few years? They either felt bad about being mean, or they realized that having a bigger and bigger audience meant there was a 100% chance someone would end up harassing the subject for fun, or some combo of the two.

The real reason was youtube monetization which is hilarious when they were still making fun of people for the explicit reason of having sponsors, ads, donation links, etc. That had absolutely no issue making new channels constantly when they started (the current one is like the 5th) but as soon as they had an account that could make ad money they feared it getting struck down.

Unironically, yeah, kinda. He was one of the few videos I ever felt bad about. I think I even said that at one point. BillyMC wasn’t an asshole or anything, just a kid. He didn’t really deserve it, I think that’s why RP did a “redemption arc” with Billy or whatnot.

I say I don’t have any regrets but I guess I do have that one, we should have just left Billy alone.

I do pop my head in from time to time when I go on Twitch to watch StarCraft and I see that he’s streaming, but no, I usually only piss in his pool once in a while.

I think @A Sentient Dumpster is fair in saying it's hard to have foreseen that any meaningful amount of people would be bothering Billy like 15 years later even with the original uploads gone. A niche YouTube channel in 2007 doesn't read like a recipe for lasting publicity then or now.
