Let's Players originating from Something Awful - ft. VoidBurger, General Ironicus, Bob Kamoc

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
This forum was an awful idea. You can't spend the last decade acting like every LP not made by a goon is inherently inferior and then come to them hat in hand, asking for them to join your safespace. There's nowhere near enough users who were banned or sympathetic to make this a real viable website. They've basically started a discord with hosting costs.

Charming.

In VoidBurger news, one of her tweets ended up getting mocked in a Fox News article (archive just in case):

This lead to a number of conservatives making fun of her (and her reacting exactly like you'd expect):

Fuck, this is disappointing. I used to really like Voidburger before she started really drinking the SJW Koolaid. I noped out way back when all the dumb shit about her and Chip revealing they were together came out, it's been an interesting read seeing what she's been up to since then. Echoing what someone else said upthread, this new ~rebel~ forum is screwed from the get go.

I bet it will actually be a "success." LP's been a neglected part of SA for years now, with mods deliberately shitting over the most popular LP threads, just because they are popular. There's a ton of splinter forums out there and this shit is just going to be one of them.

I always found the war SA waged on YouTube lets players to be incredibly funny. SA always prided itself on being competent and informative compared to a 12 year old with a demo version of cam software. They did everything they could even to avoid uploading their videos to YouTube, using less popular sites like DailyMotion, Vimeo (before game content got shut out), to self-hosting, and so forth. And then people on YouTube actually started to make money entertaining people and SA lost it's shit.

The only thing funny in this video is slowbeef credits himself as Acetaldehyde in the description. I've never been able to make it through the entire thing because I fear my face will get stuck in a permanent cringe expression.

To be fair the main reason LP goons avoided YouTube was a combination of videos at the time being limited to ten minutes (most LP videos would tend to cover single levels that could easily go over that amount) and the video output quality being garbage. Once YouTube fixed those problems almost everyone except for a few stubborn diehards happily started using the site to host their videos.

Trigger Discipline
Or: How to Properly Use Trigger Warnings
You're probably here because you want to know exactly what a trigger warning is, or how to properly use them on this forum! First of all, for those not in the know, a trigger warning is something you place before content that people may find particularly upsetting or disturbing, so they can avoid it if they prefer.
It can be difficult to decide what should and shouldn't come with a trigger warning, so here are some guidelines to help you out.
Content that will require a trigger warning:
  • Rape, sexual assault, homophobic/racist/transphobic/general bigoted content, excessive gore
General usage guidelines of the nws-tw tag and the :tw: emoji for let's plays.
  • The "nws-tw" tag is for saying "This LP will contain triggering content within it somewhere."
    • This can be applied preemptively or as soon as the triggering content first appears
  • The :tw: emoji is for saying "This material right here contains triggering content."
    • This should be used immediately before any content or links to content containing triggering material
In short, if your LP contains material requiring a trigger warning, you will need to be using both the tag and the emoji at some point.
What do you mean by homophobic/racist/transphobic/general bigoted content?
  • Just to be clear I am talking about content in the game. All games are products of their day, and unfortunately some tropes were common back then that we today recognize as being pretty shitty and unacceptable. This doesn't mean the games aren't worth showing off, just make sure your readers know what they're getting into.
How much gore is "excessive gore"?
  • Basically, if your game is rated M for violence, (or it would be, if its an indie game) then it most likely requires a trigger warning. Use your own best judgement, and as always, when in doubt err on the safe side and tag.
Unsure? Listen to your readers.
  • If you slip up, people in your thread will usually let you know.
Don't stress out too much.
  • We all goof up, so don't worry if you miss a trigger warning sometimes. You won't be probated for making mistakes. However, repeated and flagrant disregard for the trigger warning system will result in you being punished.
Trigger warnings are here to stay.
  • Don't bother complaining about their existence. We feel they are important for the site to have, and complaining about their existence or mocking them will only serve to net you a probation.

The forum was a great idea. Now they are all contained in one place.
Voidburger is too much of an attention whore to contain her sperging on one forum.
^ Wouldn't the age ratings system on video games make trigger warnings redundant?
You're being :optimistic: and assuming that the modern generations of adult-children have the mental maturity of actual adults.

Heh, activism. Sitting on your ass shaking and crying while barely playing a video game because a Birthday Clown won office is not activism. It's passive aggressive laziness.

I never really watched most of the lot barring Slowbeef, Diabeetus, and hilariously DeceasedCrab. If you want an example of double standards by the by, check out Beef and Beetus' Metroid Prime LP; it is as worthy to have been RP'd as some of their other videos. Especially in 3, where Slowbeef would get lost consistently to the point where he reaches DSP level in shit that should've been cut.

Of the SA dudes, the Time Warriors, the StrawhatNO!, and Maple Leaf SA are the best of the lot content wise IMO; the rest of the lot never really got that good either due to making the same errors or just for not being able to hold my interest anymore.

I was more of a screenshot LP person, and there's a fair amount of good ones on the archive. Maybe it's just because I couldn't hear their autism.

^ Come on, just because Shmorky turns out to be a disgusting, manipulative closet pedophile diaperfur, it doesn't mean she can disrespect *her* pronouns! If she does she'll probably get sent a lot of hateful comments from her SJW friends.

My favorite part has to be the 'Deep down I still want my permaban to be lifted, but I'm gonna keep acting like a total passive-aggressive bitch towards the owner of that site' attitude she keeps through the whole story, it's priceless.
