Let's Players originating from Something Awful - ft. VoidBurger, General Ironicus, Bob Kamoc

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Ironicus and Chip at least worked to get where they are today but unlike Chip I'm pretty sure Ironicus went into some sort of sociology course in college and it fried his fucking brain.
Also pretty sure Ironicus works an unrelated office job to afford the apartment he's got with his wife, really putting that degree to good use eh?
Don't get me wrong. I don't mean to impugn people just for pursuing LPs as a form of expression or creativity. I know that Chip and Ironicus both have jobs. Chip can believe whatever he wants but he keeps it out of the goddamned entertainment product he's trying to sell, so I'll keep watching and enjoying it. I've said before that I probably lean closer to him on political shit than I do to a lot of folks here, but that doesn't even matter because either way I know I disagree severely with him on some things and I'd still probably enjoy having a beer with him and talking about it.

Don't know if he'd feel the same, maybe he would. We can be pretty sure Ironicus wouldn't feel the same, because he clearly thinks disagreement is "problematic" and would does do his best to ice out anyone who threatens the Social Justice narrative du jour. Whether his current job relied on his degree to acquire, or if he's just got a worthless liberal arts degree, are irrelevant to the fact that if he supports himself, then good for him. It absolutely is relevant when you want to talk about the problems of privilege, entitlement, and a worldview that is sheltered to the point of becoming offensively and dangerously myopic; these are all things that go hand-in-hand with a liberal arts degree that is expensive and useless. He may as well have just bought that old Apple "I'm Rich" app that costed $1,000 and purposefully did nothing. Do I look at everyone who has a worthless starbucks degree with disdain? No. But when he wants to rant about everyone else's privilege like a sanctimonious prophet, he opened the door to discussing his own - which we all know is something these kinds of people really don't like being pointed out. So don't buy that "I'm Rich" app and then criticize people for treating themselves to a fancy dinner once in a while.

Voidburger is just a loser. When someone has never had to work for a living despite being 30 years old and doesn't worry about where her food and rent is coming from, they deserve no respect for condemning privilege in others. Al Gore flies all around the world in his private jet, but wants me to feel guilty for hurting the environment because I need to drive a cheap car to get to work every morning? That's what the term limousine liberal was coined for. She's the bourgeois condemning the proletariat for having too many nice things in life.

Slowbeef and Damehasclass try it: being anti-Capitalist whilst assessing personal worth based on money

When I was in my late teens I was a fan of a few of these people.
It's been a real ride seeing almost all of them have meltdowns on a regular basis over trivial shit and get into internet slapfights.

I mentioned the Zoeypost to Voidburger on twitter way back without realizing she was pals with Zoe and she had a meltdown.

I feel bad that these are the people Chipcheezum associates with because he never seemed to support any of the crazy shit they were saying openly.
A real shame they can't just, act reasonably.

Which of these people were even around (presumably a few years ago) when you were a teenager?

Whether Chip has the same views as voidburger or not is irrelevant; What matters is he's capable of behaving like an adult.

Oh boy, look who just joined in on this microphone mess with yet another "ironic" video:

slowbeef no pull up pull up

I'm not seeing it in slowbeef's message, he's just ripping on DSP which he's pretty consistently done. Sara (whoever that is), on the other hand, appears to be insufferable from that one tweet.

has slowbeef said anything anti-capitalist? as far as i can remember he is pretty pro capitalist.

Nah, slowbeef is pretty pro-capitalist afaik. He works in New York City, which is a tough place to deal with if you're not down with the capitalism. Also he's made it pretty clear he's all about them shekels. I don't think he's ever denied that he's doing LPs to try to make money.

Anyone wants to play detective? Follow the money. For the level of autism they're outputting, there's no way these LPers don't have a deal to promote that hardware.
Apple Fanboyism shows that you can't underestimate consumerist tribalism, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two popular folks were given free stuff or were paid to use a certain mic on camera, but popular is the operative word there, and popular the lp.zone crowd ain't.

Bob's video would not be entirely terrible if he hadn't been incensed by WeeGee's video before the plagiarism came to light, there's also the issue of the disingenuous title "Clickbait Thievery" title, which I'm assuming was an attempt at a clickbaity title, though we can rest assured knowing it's certainly not going to go viral.

And going back to the title, it wasn't really a response to the video, it was a very late exposé of plagiarism after everyone who cared already learned it was plagiarism, he's going even harder on this because it legitimises all of the hate he already had for the guy, and it's trying to present himself as nobly looking out for people and talking about how we need to take a stand against this kind of thing while not disclosing that he was frothing at the mouth spamming the guy with "cummies" before anyone knew what was up.

It's a bit weird for him to call out people for recycling other people's content, especially for him to say "Regurgitating information to make a quick buck online" while showing a screenshot of the title of someone's guide which reads "Cool way to use other people's youtube videos to create your own" and calling out "rehashed clickbait videos" given that most of his popular content is him and his friends reading people's youtube comments under the heading "Youtube Reacts to <noteworthy thing>" or the "Everything wrong with "Everything wrong with <movie>"" series.

And the thing that lets you know he's still salty about his beloved microphone's reputation being besmirched is that he ended the video mentioning he was using a Yeti.

I don't think they're sponsored. These are the types of people who largely define themselves based on random popculture shit. I don't think it's a stretch to say they would treat someone saying anything remotely negative about their recording equipment as a personal attack.

So basically, Bob only did a response when someone else did his damn job for him and now he's moving the goalposts from the actual debatable quality of the Yeti towards the plagiarism charge and a general "take a stand" mentality, while working to ignore how he was the one losing his damn mind over the Yeti video.

Even though it's already been several days since the plagiarism came out and anyone who cared enough to look into it would already know.

I'm pretty sure that's one of the idiots Lowtax permabanned from SA for subtweeting that he was a child abuser.

I haven't seen any of slowbeef or lowtax's videos with their children (because children are disgusting germ factories with nothing interesting to say) so maybe the accusations aren't ENTIRELY without merit, but how were they allegedly abusing their children? By featuring them in videos that they were making for a profit?

I mean I think that's weird but not necessarily immoral and I struggle to see how that crowd tried to spin it to seem otherwise.

@Lowtax got out a doll and asked them where exactly Shmorky touched them. It was pretty disturbing.

To be fair, the whole thing was the kid's idea, they had "the talk" about shmorky and she wanted to deal with learning someone who had sort of been a very weird friend of the family was a grotesque monster by taking the piss out of him and his stupid fetishes.
