Let's Players originating from Something Awful - ft. VoidBurger, General Ironicus, Bob Kamoc

Isn't creating drama and doing callout vids the current strategy on Youtube right now? As they say, Drama is more popular than content. Why even try to create?
It's the Hollywood model. Hollywood accidentally created some new stuff 30-40 years ago, but any attempt to create new things is always a risk so let's just reboot that old shit over and over because there's already an established audience.

Youtube is slowly but surely becoming the 4th Spider-man reboot in the span of a decade.

I have to wonder if Voidburger was sexually abused by a man as a child. She really has a thing out for men, like really violent aggressive hatred. I don't think something like that just comes naturally.

Maybe her relationship is just going poorly- I don't know how somebody like Chip would tolerate somebody that incredibly sexist in his day to day life.

Dudes submissive as shit, he's probably the type of guy that has no self confidence and who legitimately thinks he needs to be in a relationship to be happy even if it means being treated like a door mat.

Chip's a legitimately nice person, which sadly is the kind of person who these SJW types tend to bully into submission most often. Though then again, he seems like a more mature adult than most of the people surrounding them. I suspect he handles Void's misandrist rants with "uh-huh"s, "that's nice, dear"s and "okay"s.

Kind of weird to think the only person who originated from SA that still has a shred of popularity and isn't much of a cow only because he does what he has done since day one is Proton Jon. The only recent controversial thing he did was really stupid and you can view it on this reddit link here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheRunaway..._those_who_are_out_of_the_loop_of_the_recent/

For what it's worth, Proton Jon is a bit of a limp dick. Not a bad guy, not a cow, he's just one of those guys who abhors conflict to the point where he'll roll over like a beaten dog if you start giving him shit. Maybe that's changed over the years, I dunno.

I actually kinda like Proton Jon to be honest (not his LPs, I never really was a fan of his LPs, but he's an OK guy). Doesn't change the fact that he is a bit of a wuss tho.

He caught a lot of shit for being one of the first people to "sell out" from the LP forum for a bigger Youtube audience (Deceased Crab was the other big one). Ironic how many of the same people who gave him shit ended up selling out themselves.

I suspect he handles Void's misandrist rants with "uh-huh"s, "that's nice, dear"s and "okay"s.
It can't be worth it, surely. Wouldn't it be better to take someone who either lacks looks and has a charming personality or looks hot but is an airhead? What do you get out of Voidburger? Swing and a miss on all fronts.

At the very least he gets a stable relationship with a female which presumably involves sex occasionally. Chip seems like a really nice guy but I can't imagine him being too confident with women, it's surprising how long people will stay in a relationship they don't really care about when they don't believe they can get any better.

It's also possible that he does genuinely appreciate voidburger and want's to stay with her - maybe she has some really fantastic hidden qualities (:optimistic:)

Chip is like one of the sweetest guys ever and i used to think that VoidBurger was okay even if she did get politcal but I watched their twitch stream of the Crash Bandicoot remake and she got so fucking pissy over the difficulty and almost immediately started critizing it, especially the bridge level which is actually not that hard but they didn't even try it proper because of her immediate judgmentality and what I notice is that Chip seemed to absorb Voidburger's attitude and started complaining as well and it was hard to watch as I saw them use the rope's hitbox as a way to "cheat" through the level which I perceived as actually harder than playing through the level. But in their next stream they showed that they 100 percented the game offscreen and said that it was easier than they were making out to be. So I feel like when Voidburger is online she becomes very opinionated to fit in with the group or maybe a better way to say it she becomes absorbed by her online cultural bubble, mainly Twitter, where it is the norm to have a strong judgementality.

Anyways, I don't thnk Voidburger is a bad person, and I feel that if we met maybe could become friends, but I feel the accelerated momentum of the internet cultural atmosphere has polarized her mentality to sometimes toxic levels. And I agree that Chip is maybe too submissive based on their streams together. I do see him frequently just agreeing to avoid confrontation. I do find their chemistry to be strange; it's hard to tell what's going on between them overall but there is this feeling I get that Chip could be happier with someone else. I do feel when they're together, at least online, that Chip's personality and energy is hindered by Vodiburger.

I get the impression that chip is just one of those people who absorb the traits of the people around him especially his partners, I imagine he is pretty different when he is at work. Also 100% sure that it was just chip who went back and completed the games without void playing at all.

As far as the protonjon "drama" goes i wouldnt be surprised if they do somewhat script the run away guys series so they have in built stories so that people get invested and watch everything that comes out, Im sure there are people watching largely for the pay off of when chugga wins. I know at least in the past protonjon was explicitly sabotaging chugga and playing the part of a smug douchebag but i have no idea if hes still doing that now he did seem to be calming down on that front.

I just don't like voidburger on stream. She is just terrible. Chip was playing sonic adventure(?) and he was trying to talk about the game and she interrupted him like 5 times in a row. I can't even remember what she was talking about, but I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with video games.

Also it's always so awkward when she'll bring up how youtube comments/whoever doesn't like her. Why am I hearing about this? This isn't funny or interesting. I'm not leaving negative comments on the video. I just want to watch people play video games cause I'm a loser.

Maybe she got better I don't know, I haven't watched any of the streams since I tried to watch the parasite eve one where she brought up the comment thing.

yeah void is just garbage at talking over videogames in general Also weirdly enough i think that parasite eve stream was also the last stream i watched i was only just able to watch it because you know its an interesting game, but it was difficult. About the comments i know it came up a few times in stream (aka void bitching about it) and at least in the early streams there was discussion about how void sucked and made the streams not entertaining but those comments stopped when people realised chip didnt give a shit and either chose to ignore the streams or put up with it in silence. Looking back at some of the early streams i think that any anti-voidburger comments were removed with chip posting
"Hi, no matter how much complaining a few of you do I'm not going to stop streaming with people I consider my friends so you should probably just skip my stream videos if it's that much of an issue for you."
such as there are no negative comments on the stream thats on or the couple of others i checked with her including one im sure i made but dont really remember.

Chip is also still making $1100/month even though he hasnt regularly uploaded for 5 months his weakly stream has happened 3 times in the last couple of months(which is far above average) so hes basically got 5.5 grand for doing nothing patreon really needs some stricter controls on creators so they actually do some of the shit they promise to do the per month setting should be a privilege not a standard
Edit: this is more about patreon in general than chip.
i get why patreon is the way it is, its designed to get the creators and therefore themselves the most money possible but the system is ripe for abuse from people creating an account, using it for 2-3 months(if even that) and just costing by on the residual money without actually having to do anything for it which is dumb bull shit most people work hard for that money. I honestly believe that they would do better having a regulated system that means people actually have to do stuff and use the system you dont post on patreon for a month you lose monthly subscription privileges, You dont fulfill your promises you get a warning and if two weeks later you dont change your page to update what you actually will do or release content if you fail to do that then you lose monthly privilege and 3 warnings in 6 months you lose that privilege. With this system if you just want to have a page that is just give me money monthly and i will create things when i do thats fine just have it obviously labeled as such and maybe have an option where patreon sends your patrons an email where they have to accept the new terms if you want to change to a subsistence account.
The balance should not be so heavily skewed towards the creator as apposed to the consumers, if people do just want to give people they like money to live im fine with that you both just need to be honest about what is going on(you could have a check mark when you pledge to ignore the rules and continue monthly until canceled but that should be the consumers choice. I dont think the system is even good for the creators such a passive income is terrible for the productivity of most people it turns people into slothenly entitled ass wipes and that is one of the main problems with communism.
There is just no justification for say shmorkey making $250 when he is for all any of his patrons know dead or a bunch of other people highlited on the farms that havent updated their patreon/ released any content in months.

Edit: I checked and chip did post on patreon that the next lp was taking longer than expected to record so he has been doing something, but with no time frame as to when it will start and the fact that he hasnt ever actually held up his promises i have contentions rather than issues.
Also the spoilered wall of text was about patreon in general and its missuse rather than anything to with chip hense spoiling it just for clarity.

Giving Chip far more benefit of the doubt than I think I would for any other goon LPer, he does have a good reason for the lack of content- Volition is putting out Agents of Mayhem and they're likely in crunch time.

Yeah, I think Chip even commented awhile ago that there was going to be a lack of content because they were in (or approaching) crunch time for Agents of Mayhem.

Regarding the Patreon stuff. While I agree that it's bullshit creators get paid money for doing nothing, it really isn't Patreon's fault. Even if Patreon was super strict and cancelled people's accounts that didn't show proof of doing what they promised, it wouldn't stop those people from getting money. Hell, if anything, it would actually help them make more money. It just wouldn't be through Patreon. Those creators would just spin some pity story about how Patreon kicked them off because it is racist/transphobic/something with white privilege or some other combination of SJW buzzwords. They'd follow it up by asking for donations on PayPal to fight the man and show that they won't be defeated, and then they'd probably use Patreon stress as an excuse of why they aren't producing the content they promised.

The problem is with the morons that give the monthly payments. They will always find a way to get money to scumbag creators, because those scumbag creators have nothing better to do with their lives than find new ways to e-beg. If it isn't Patreon, it will be Gofundme or PayPal donations or some other method of moving money.

It always amazes me how much money these patreon supporters/twitch subscribers have to blow. How can you give money to someone who almost never delivers the promised content? How many people subscribe to a bunch of twitch channels? What was the name of the guy who donated like a $1000 dollars on slowbeefs stream? Frankly, I wish I had that much money to flush down the toilet.

I guess I just associate these people with the same ones on SA saying capitalism is terrible and fuck rich people and privilege, yet they all manage to spend money on this and video games. I guess they aren't the same people.
I'm just jealous probably. If I had people willing to give me money for almost nothing I might take it too.

If he has no time to work on his LPs he should just put the Patreon on hold (yes, that's an option) instead of billing people for nothing unless they pull out. Or charge them for content instead of monthly. Plenty of ways to do this right, he just knows he can get away with squeezing some more money out of his fans.
