You know you fucked up when even the Dog Rates guy looks good compared to you.
But yeah TB was actually super obsessive about dogs in his last few months so I can totally imagine that setting her off.

His videos haven't been doing too great. His last big series, Beyond Good and Evil, started out with 13k views on the first episode but only had half that at the end. His Metal Gear Solid V series has been hyped for a while but looks like it will get 10k views on average, maybe more will build up over the course of the series to maybe 15-20k. For a professional let's player that's nothing, he can only be making $10 per episode, max.
His and Ironicus's Patreon is at $1,356 per month and VoidBurger's is at $835, presumably they also make some money from their twitch streams, too.

That doesn't mean much. Chip has always been fairly niche and even his most popular video ever (update 1 of his Revengeance LP) only has 135,000 views. 10,000 - 30,000 views is standard for him. And bear in mind his MGSV LP is probably going to be his longest ever.

This. Chip's market has grown slowly over the years partly because he has a very irregular update rate. Most LPers get big by having daily updates or by having times where you can say for sure "I will have a video up on this hour on this day." It's only with Phantom Pain and Uncharted 4 that Chip is finally making an effort to meet a consistent schedule, in part because now he has Patrons to satisfy.

You mean he's a NEET now.

You mean he's a NEET now.

No, he's still looking for a job. NEETs by definition don't seek employment. Although given the conventional wisdom about the labour market, it's unlikely he'll land anything at this point unless it's by networking. An eight month gap in your resume can devastate your prospects, especially in a field with less demand (video editing).

That's my point he's a NEET. He could get a job doing not video editing, or produce daily content, or anything else besides suck then patreon tit for doing very little.

I like his stuff, but dude either needs to YouTube full-time or get a job, any job.

The reason why Dan Hardcastle's vids aren't gaining traction is because they're really shit now.

You know the funny thing is, a decade ago when LPs were sort of new and in their prime, all of these big names were still in college or younger and "worked full time" at school, presumably with the expectation they'd have professional careers afterward.

Now they're on the wrong side of 30 and have mostly blank resumes and maintaining the fantasy of "I'm in a humble place now but my future will be brighter" gets harder by the month, way harder than your teenage years when you're supposed to have that fantasy. No wonder they all turn to the specter of socialism. It's the only way to reclaim the "others will be ditch diggers so I can keep playing with toys" dream.

They haven't learned that your degree doesn't define your career. 20 years ago they'd all be in low end but stable corporate jobs making a life and saving for retirement.

I'm not picking on chip specifically, but he's a good example. Dude could easily do temp work in an office or call center as well as his YT. Maybe he is and I owe him an apology, but evidence points to no.

Now it's "I'm an unemployed video editor/graphics designer" instead of "I'll do anything you'll hire me for"

Slowbeef react's to TB's death:

Reminder: Slowbeef is friends with many of the people who hated/hate TB and literally tried to ruin his life. That "Internet Psychiatrist" video he made was to defend Dina Karam, one of the people shown in the CON leaks trying to talk Zoe Quinn into suing TB and gloating about destroying him. Zoe Quinn and Rami Ismail, also friends of Slowbeef, falsely accused TB of threatening Quinn. And then there's the many far-left "journalists" that Slowbeef is now pals with who have been attacking TB and associates for years.
Only a matter of time before those friends either convince him to change his views or turn on him for, gasp, mourning TB instead of insulting him like everyone else.

I am having a similar discussion with other people, regarding twitch. YT/Twitch is sort of like Webcomics back when advertising was worth a damn - you have a bunch of people making a modest standard of living with little effort, and they don't understand unless you've got your eye on a prize and keep bettering yourself, what usually happens is the bubble bursts after a few years and you're left holding the bag.
Most of the people are left with a big hole in their resume and depleted savings because they generally burn through their income without bothering to save/invest (as one girl I knew described it "YOLOing it up"), and what little they do save usually gets burned up at the end as they try to keep the wheels on the train just a little longer because things will pick up again! We've had dips before and they came back!

Honestly they should be glad things are starting to come apart now rather than later. As hard as it is being 30 and fishing for entry level jobs with nothing but "2008-2018 - Played video games while watched by lonely voyeurs", imagine being 40 and having "2008-2028 - Played video games while watched by lonely voyeurs and begging them for tips" as your sole resume entry.

I have no problem with anyone who wants to yolo their way through life if they accept the consequences. The problem is that when life invariably gets tough and the glamour trickles away, they always get bitter and resentful that the grownups didn't stop them from making short-sighted choices (even though reasonable people did try to warn them for years and got mocked and belittled for it because anyone who pays bills or saves money must be a loser) and now want everyone else to cater to them so they don't have to embrace any humility and admit they are behind their peers professionally and financially because of their own decisions. They pronounce this paragraph as "socialism" and yolo turns into "woke".

All thing equal Chip's mgsv LP is pretty good so far (only one real mission in)

Time will tell how long that lasts, though. Chip admits in the Chipod Ironicast that went up yesterday that Phantom Pain will likely run up to eighty episodes (and I assume that's before things like bonus videos or some Metal Gear Online). If I recall, his Peace Walker thread was a ghost town near the end because people just ran out of things to say, so it'll be interesting/saddening to see if Chip and Ironicus can keep it up this time.

Oh I don't read the threads anymore. Just watching the vids.

Peace walker was boring at the end because it's just a boring game to watch someone play for very long.

And Phantom Pain is just as bad. Most reviewers I know have all said some variation of "Once you've played for ten hours, you've officially seen everything there is to see." It is a complete slog to go through the backhalf and I pity anyone who tries to make it interesting.
