Proton Jon is a sweetheart and it's virtually impossible to dislike the guy (although you can dislike his LPs, I was never really a fan).

PJ and Deceased Crab were two of the earliest LPers to move from SA to Youtube. Deceased Crab got no end of shit for it, but occasionally people would go "what about Proton Jon?" and the overwhelming response was "Hey, leave Proton Jon alone!" Everyone likes him.

DaveO voted Trump and made the mistake of mentioning that on Retsupurae, so they unpersoned him.

People say this but I'm pretty sure Dave-O just moved on, the way many of us did. If slowbeef asked me tomorrow to do a retsupurae I'd probably say yes for the novelty factor, but I'm not exactly going to do LPs all the time or be a regular guest, and I imagine Dave-O was the same way. He was never a big LPer.

I'm not saying tribalism didn't play a part, it probably did, but I don't think there's any animosity between slowbeef and Dave-O over Trump.

If I recall part of the problem was that Jon had some production quality about him in a time where having any was rare, while DC made like 30 videos a day in the fuzziest video possible and pooped them out constantly

Jon's a good guy and he takes most things in stride. One of the goon videos from back in the Google Video days that I used to watch a lot was him playing Worms with slowbeef and Psychedelic Eyeball that's basically just an hour of slowbeef roasting the hell out of him while he's like "yeah, fair enough". If you can stomach "wacky drunk" Psychedelic Eyeball, it's almost worth it just for the amount of slowbeef talking a ton of shit about Jon with Jon playing along. And some classic Dave-O, who seems to have disappeared these days.

I think one of the best jokes slowbeef ever made was "Have I got a Super Mario Hack for you!" in reference to Protonjon.

They're not different though.
They're "diverse" but also all homogeneous. Hell I remember one person claiming the anime and games subforums are "90% trans and gay" which would be the most baffling anomaly online. Years and years of bans and dumbass probations have more or less culled the community of most people that would have any different beliefs.
