Maybe I'm just out of the loop because I don't follow their content, but I'm lost as to why has he decided that merch-ifying stuff like screwdrivers and backpacks is a good business idea for LMG? I don't think I've ever seen them do serious tool reviews or even mention tools much at all. Why the sudden urge to sell an expensive ratcheting screwdriver, or an expensive backpack? It seems to me like they'd be far more successful with stuff that is in their lane, like a line of prebuilt gaming machines or something like that. I think their fanboys would gobble that up.
They probably calculated it can bring a good amount of extra profit from their braindead audience on top of all the dosh they get for fellating big corpos.

Has anyone already done the math on whether the LTT screwdriver is literally the most expensive screwdriver in the world?
There might be some special insulated screwdrivers for linemen working on 10 billion volts that cost more, but as far as just a plain old "metal stick with a handle" screwdriver, even the luxury brands with ironclad lifetime warranties don't cost that much.
his ratcheting screwdriver might me the 2nd or 3rd most expensive.
the Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver is like 70-75$.
remember the orange boi Linus had?
it's that one.
there is the Williams which is half the price and has the same ratcheting mechanism as the Snap-on. because they are from the same manufacturer and both are made in the USA(no loops or BS that has seen a chinese sweatshop).

Linus also showed off the screwdriver on a stream:
he says that its to show a comparison between different competitors and what people use, but I am putting on my tinfoil hat cuz it all looks like the same brands people complained would rather get than his expensive ass screwdriver.
because i found even more that isn't mentioned by the fans or Linus on stream, like mac tools and gear wrench
and from the way Linus tries to sell or explain the details of the screwdriver its all from PC building, which is like a very clean scenario when using the screwdriver.
unlike a workshop or a garage where a screwdriver is one of mechanics best friends it is expected ur gonna have some greasy hands and rusty bolts and screws.

Depends on what happened first. He sunk money into real estate and the Lab as well, so one of the two is trying to pay the cost of the other.

Considering he's not shifting stock, and the Lab by it's nature doesn't have a quick ROI, he's obviously going to be pissed.

They ain't in the youtube business anymore.

they're in the empire business.

on the wan show it was brought up via a merch message why does Linus keep mentioning money in thumbnails and he got defensive but you can tell Luke doesn't like it, and it is reaching a point where "muh algorithm" doesn't matter. Linus says his power supply video is the most watched video for the last two weeks as he tries to justify it because he wants to spur passion about technology, he might actually believe his leaf faggotry now. He's also still hiring people for the lab and his mac address channel, word must be getting out he's not making the best offers.

timestamped:

And they a pop-up for the screwdriver, showing it off and letting fans come and buy/try the screwdriver vs competition. It's cringe when fans talk to him, especially some mask fags, because on top of 85% of them looking like fat bitch tit slobs, they're also trying to maybe make this their big break and think they'll get hired on the spot. Tranny alert at the timestamp:

At 1:06:45 a skinny young kid who didn't like/buy the screwdriver talks about what he didn't like, mainly saying the lock mechanism on the hand and bit holder are bad, and Linus does his usual "I'm not mad but I'm going to insult you and belittle your points to feel like a fool" that is peak highschool douche.

They did not address the GN video on the Wan show, most likely to take any wind out of the drama. It also seems like that have started to curate chats on their channels during the show. People mentioning the GN video were timed out on twitch.

It did wound his ass and his flimsy excuse was pure cope. His problem stems from not building his brand on that. MRBeast can do it, because he has built his entire brand on giving away large amounts of money(yes i am aware he make almost double back).
Linus's trust fund house bragging videos have not helped his brand. He wants to be the everyman trust me bro guy, but then changes in to full corpo Disney CEO suit when reality hits. People are picking up on this disconnect and it is providing the undercurrent to his current laughingstock mountain he is climbing.
This video here is just fucking boring. It is exactly the same as the last server video they did. Unbox, take lid off, fuck about with """"""banter"""""""", he drops/breaks something, they plug it in, do benchmarks, yep its fast, end video. They never do anything really interesting with any of the servers they show off.

IT'S HAPPENING

Oh they most certainly do. $70 for a screwdriver is standard fare for a tool truck and just like linus fans, a small number of people will eat it up.

I get why people would spend that kind of money on a Snap-On screwdriver: excellent quality, good warranty support, made in USA, decades of brand equity etc etc.

I'm looking forward to PF's next video. The comments section is going to be a doozy.
