Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

Don't watch this but you can skim through it to see the new intel GPU compared to a 3060, where it holds its own on a lot of things but they lowkey say get a AMD 6600 instead. Linus drops out for about 2 of the 3 hours and Riley takes his place and he is the personification of modern day beta male, concern trolling about violence in GTAV, being very bitchy because he won't follow others instructions for settings on the card.

Did they ever manage to sell that dumb gold controller which cost 80K (or something like that) just in gold?

The "Special Edition" could be a way of plugging a hole in the financials.

Harbor freight is great, especially for things you arent going to use much and dont mind buying cheap. I have one of these $10 sets and a #2 phillips and its all i need 95% of the time i'm screwing something.

I have one of these. This is overall not bad when in use and I like the flex line in this set. I, over the years have, hundreds if not close to a thousand different types of tools that I have used in my working career.

HOWEVER. The set of tools that helped me become wealthy is.... The Blue Set of Ryobi Power Tools and The RARE Ryobi WorkStation. I still have it and it is in great condition. This was a MUST HAVE when I was property management for other people as well as my own investment properties/business.

(Note this is an example and not in my garage)

Ryobi for many years and to this day was the "Throw Away" tools used in large construction jobs AND YES I did see this happen first hand in the year 2000. I would literally Frankenstein broken parts together and make rebuilts for free. BUT I also found out the quality build was pretty good for the price. I took care of my tools so I still have my Ryobi Blue power tools set.

The green color is not to my taste though they are decent to use and actually in many cases the guts of both types of power tools are the same, just the plastic casing are different.

In ending buy the set of tools that you can afford but do not buy into the hype of a name brand when making your purchase.

If I had the background, I would have liked to apply as head of LTT Labs. Just for the sake of throwing my weight around at Linus. Gary Key seems like a solid guy, but he doesn't have the camera presence. He doesn't need it. I expect that he will be purely technical. But what fun would it have been to be deeply technical, and be extroverted. "STFU Linus, you cuck. Here is the report on the best power supply."

Second round of shilling for Team Blue. Have you bought a Arc GPU yet?
Woow AV1! Man, if only AMD and Nvidia had some current generation hardware that could do AV1 decoding. Linus Intel Tips bases this massive groundswell of AV1 encoding demand based on a single reddit comment with only a few upvotes where someone complains about the lack of dedicated AV1 hardware.

Linus' argument is we don't know AMDs pricing yet. And nvidias is $900 minimum. Intel is like $130 and will be even cheaper possibility in the future. But even he thinks its early days for av1.

It's AV1 encoding. This graph will explain it.

(more AV1 adoption is actually very nice)

The ogre is back

The shill intel arc and say they cannot recommend this because it doesn't have DP 2.0 because so many people have 8k 100+hz displays.

Ltt is so out of touch with the average consumer. When they are constantly given all the latest and greatest for free for years; its easy to forget that the majority of peons on steam use 1080P monitors. Doesn't everyone have every room in their house adorned with 80 inch OLEDs?

Skimming the comments is funny, so many people complaining about the lack of DP 2.0 when you know damn well it doesn't effect them in any way.

He’d counter that by saying that the 4090 is aimed at the top of the market, but he’d still be out of touch. Most high end people don’t use 8k screens either, because there really isn’t a point for desktop. 4k is already too much unless you make it logically 1080p or get a 42in screen. The only use case I can think of with current monitor tech where DP 2.0 would be useful is with something like the Pimax 12K VR headset.

Remember that the 4090 has 4 ports, not one, so someone with three 4K 120 Hz monitors for a sim rig would be fine. So would a competitive CS/Valorant player with a single 240 Hz 1440p or 360 Hz 1080p monitor. 8k needs an 80 in screen to not need scaling when viewing it from a foot away and for 4k that figure is around 40 in which is already pushing the limits of what fits on a desk and what you can see without craning your neck up. In the future DP 2.0 will be necessary, but I doubt the 4090 can even play games on Ultra on a (nonexistent) monitor that takes full advantage of the new standard.

If I could stop being lazy and focus on video editing more; the 4090 would be great. Lots of power and being NVIDIA, it has NVENC, which is one reason I prefer them over AMD. Since I don't try to be Pro MLG, I can't give less of a fuck about 8k and whatever refresh rate Linus wants. My computer is more of a workstation, SC2 doesn't demand twitch reflexes, and I'm not a consoomer sperg who claims anything under 60fps is unplayable.

I think the actual problem with not having DP 2.0 is the maximum display refresh rate at 4k on earlier DP versions is 120hz, so people who want to upgrade from 1080p144hz or 1440p144hz would have trouble. If I was a gamer and blew a massive quantity on this card, I'd have to go with 1440p144hz instead of 4k144hz if I wanted the latency I'm used to. I don't really see the point of super high rez anyway and I'm not the target customer, but I really like 144hz (and use it now on my tower computer) in desktop applications.
