While I'm not a painter, I think I have a small knowledge on it but doesn't stain/floor pain or what they use there uses a lot of solvents like thinners? If so, he putting his employees to paint it can be a very big liability, a lot of solvents used on concrete floor stain/paint is very addictive, toxic and dangerous. If something happened to one of them and sue Linus, he would lose more money than paying a entire team of painters
Speaking from welding, specifically the ventilation aspect, fumes can fuck you up without proper ventilation. If he isn't running fans to the outside, leaving the doors open, those guys are in for a rough ride. It won't even get you high, just cause damage.
